Tanger, Tetouan and Chefchaouen. Yes, that was my point. I could barely handle this and then realized that others may feel Morocco to be utopic compared to their condition. I'm not knocking it.
Chefchaouen was absolutely breathtaking.

i'm from Casablanca, the big city. it's true that lately Tanger became shady, it's the starting point for a lot of people who want to immigrate illegally, they all gather there waiting for their turn near the port :(
Tetouan is okay i believe, it's definitely smaller and less shadier than Tanger. there are many nice places close to Tetouan where people spend their summer vacations, includings lots of resorts for rich people.
as for Chefchaouen, i have never been there, i know a lot of peeps go there to smoke you-know-what :tongue2 |

I prefered Tanger just because it felt more authentic than Tetouan to me. Tetouan was more modernized, which isn't a downfall by any means. Buuuut you MUST go to Chefchaouen!!!! Before going, I've only seen its aspects in books. You probably already know how everything is white minus the azul blue doors and pastel colored steps. Blue signifying "love" in arabic? I was told that a certain hour of the day everyone cleans the city. PLUS. THE MOUNTAINS! & WATERFALLS I even envisioned myself living there. The people in all cities were very warm and welcoming, it was just a culture shock I suppose. My greatest kick was definately the markets. I've learned to cut deals like you wouldn't believe! :toothless I wanted to visit Casablanca, but unfortunately didn't have the time :( I've heard only good things.I shall return, though! |
