Why are Asians doing so well?

Question.

Why are Asians by far and away the most successful minority group. I was looking at the average household incomes for minorities that were just released, and Asians were ahead of African Americans by about $10,000. Why is this?

work ethic. my mom set foot in this country in 1969. didn't speak a lick of englaise, but she hasn't stopped since. after dealing with my dumb ass, owning four bars in three different cities, her second husband shot on the freeway, working topless between the bar ownerships. she hasn't stopped. i can say roughly the same about my Korean BFF parents in high school.

Got that right. The (east) Asian people are smartest on this planet. LOL

It has to do with society.

Asians tend to be less adventurous, hardworking, and save save save!

Whereas other societies tend to enjoy life more.

Asians buy a car only when they have enough money in the bank and plus more, but other soceity might buy a car as soon as they get their first job and pay through installments.

Several reasons:

1. China as an example had a massive bureaucracy very early, with official positions in the government (the main and respectable path to fine living) being through the official examinations of the Chinese Classical texts. This encouraged literacy, and study, which was instituitonalized as a primary virtue in e.g., Confucianism, the state philosophy for 2000+ years.

2. China is still very poor. Study, due to practical reasons, is considered a luxury. Therefore everyone's goal is to study very hard with the time they do have, because those that do well are permitted to attend high schools and universities, and those that don't go to work in the textile factory. In short, studying hard leads to a better life for one's entire family in contemporary China (as in ancient China; moreover it is not unusual for three generations to live together as a family unit): you either make it and get a higher education, which leads to your entry to the middle class, or you fail and live in poverty for the rest of your life. The motivation to study hard and do hard work is therefore very powerful.

And there is no East Asian society that was not heavily influenced by China. :)

where did you get those results? from what i found asians only make 6 more thousand a year. Regardless it is safe to say they make more than African Americans and Hispanics. I work for Asians and they are very smart and very hard working people. My boss works 6 days a week all year around. He never closes the place down, only on January 1st are we closed. He's a bit of a prick but working so much, he prolly has to be.

So we can say Asians have experienced success in this country because they have workerd hard, an ideal people believe is dead. Do Asians prove this to be alive and well, and if they do, why is it that other minorities are having a more difficult time?

Asians are very smart, but there's a catch. They're not very creative or imaginative. Their schools emphasize conformance and memorization, as opposed to thinking outside the box.

Once they adopt a certain scientific idea, they can develop it to unprecedented heights. BUT coming up with this idea in the first place, is hard for them.

Give me the name of a single Asian genius who would be equivalent to the European luminaries like Newton, Einstein, Roentgen, Leibniz etc.

The issue isn't their existence, the issue is that western culture doesn't spread their fame...

Zhang Heng's pretty cool if you want a place to start.
