Well it's an awful generalization on my part, not all Southerners are ignorant. But the truth remains that the American south is the region of the US with the lowest income, least education and highest birthrates (kinda like a 3rd world country in our backyard). Add that to a legacy of segregation and civil rights abuses and the picture is made quite clear.

Ohh and I'm American by the way.

based upon what i've seen from various new reports, US and other wise. Snipers shooting as attempted Evacs from hospitals, pilaging, armed gangs running around, Gangs of boys/men running around Raping women. this may sound cold hearted and cruel. but Let them die.

rescue those who want it, and let the rest kill them selves off. why risk lives attempting to save those who want to live in anarchy.

It ain't 'just that simple'. We can't even BEGIN to understand what they're going thru, or how the human mind reacts after days of these horrific conditions. No, there is no excuse for rape or armed gangs running around. Everyone is fending for themself now. No one is REALLY in control down there. The gov'ts slow response is appalling.

I think those oil moguls in the middle east should step up to the plate and pledge relief funds, since they're the ones who are reaping the benefits of this mess.

i don't think it's fair to cast off the lives of thousands of innocent people due to the actions of a group of criminals who are trying to exploit an already desperate situation. i think what's lacking these days is a considerable sense of humanity in this often troubled world. heaven help those who are actually trying to pull through this awful mess. it's just unfortunate that most of the victims of this disaster are no doubt the poor and destitute who in all likelihood had no means of leaving the city when the evacuation warnings were given. i guess this is what happens when u spend too much time worrying about what's going on in other countries and not enough time on trying to fix problems in one's own backyard. just like tatgirl said, it's not that simple when u really think about it.

Makes you wonder what went on over in Thailand after the tsunami? This stuff didn't seem to happen (to this degree), or maybe it just wasn't reported.
Regardless, I think this behavior occuring in the only supposed super-power nation in the world is unexcuseable. They may be a superpower, but I question their civility. The lack of response from the Feds. is alarming. Here is a very candid radio interview with the major of NO.
