CNN reported (as of this morning) that roving gangs of gunmen were running rampant in Baton Rouge, driving around in pickup trucks w/ several men in the back wielding AK-47 rifles... As the reporter put it, it looks like a scene out of Somalia, not the United States. WTF are these people doing? I don't care if you're poor - that is, nor will it ever be, an excuse to act like an uncivilized animal. This is an absolute embarassment to our country. |

And, on another note... That FX movie didn't need to be made. There was a 1 hour Discovery show that I watched years ago that proposed this exact situation w/ computer graphics of what the city would look like under 10 feet of water - they were eerily correct. I have some lack of sympathy for the situation (not the people invovled - I truly feel sorry for them). But it was known that the entire city was 13 feet below sea level, with nothing but a dirt mound between it and the sea - this was inevitable....
