not sure if anyone cares about sound systems all too much, but i just found this out and thought i should share :D
so Space, Ibiza recently re-did their terrace...made it bigger, new lighting system, new sound and all that. to commemorate their new and improved terrace they had Danny Howells and Groove Armada play for Space's new night "We Love Sunday's"
turns out the new soundsystem they got is a Funktion One system. incredible bass. if anyone wants to experience it full sound check out the Vanguard!
that's right...a little piece of Ibiza right here in LA ;)
i was at the Vanguard for Giant's new night Funktion last week with the Crystal Method & Jason Bentley. It's certainly not Avalon's ass kicking sound (which by the way has started to go down hill), but its damn nice!

Ice in Vegas has a 100,000watt Funktion One System
Mezzanine here in SF has a 50,000watt Funktion One system
I was reallllyy hoping Ruby Skye was going to install one after they had a temp one to test and it RULED. But they went with EAW Avalon in the end...
The main west coast Funktion One sound guy lives in Vegas, which is why Ice's sound is always in top shape. Mezzanine's here doesn't get tuned nearly enough, IMO. When it's tuned it's soooooooooo good. When it's not, it's so easy to tell.
Avalon Hollywood's sound probably is "going down hill" because it probably just needs to be retuned.
Anyhow, LA is just catching up :-p |

so ICE has a Funktion One system as well? when did they install it? last time i was there (juneish) it wasn't all that great. maybe it just wasn't loud? |

i just got some Funktion 1 speakers for my bedroom! having the guy come in next thursday to tune it :toothless

Ice has had a Funktion One system since it opened.
One thing I have noticed about FO systems is that they get out of tune rather easily it seems.
