| YIKES! If you've already downloaded this mix, watch out. Something happened during the conversion process and there's some extreme static at the end. I'm uploading a new one. |

OMG good mix!
I don't really know what else to say. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The mixing is EXCELENT! The melodies were fitting and the tracks build VERY well.

^this tune is one of my favorites and amongst us who enjoy this stuff, well done!
my favorite transition is from Infusion - Do To You to Oliverio & MOS - Break My Mind. Very well done from a melodical standpoint. also i would like to say that tracks 9 and 10 are very awesome. :D
i think the only complaint i can come up with is the set is lacking some melodic satisfaction. but this a very personal critisism as i am one to crave more vocal melodies. not just vocals, but melodies that speak a language of sorts. it's always hard for me to explain so don't worry if you don't understand what im talking about.
also the set had a bit of a flabby finish. the tracks are great at the end but it seemed the set was some how severed at the transition of track 10 to track 11. but this is also a minor personal complaint.
it is clear that you have experience when it comes to mixing. so it's nice to move past the mixing and technical aspecs (because those are really trivial and easy to get down for most) and move strait onto the feeling and progression of the mix which is the most delicate and crucial aspect to the mix's success.
i would say that you have acheived an 89% percent when it comes to this aspect and have definately mastered the rest.
cheers and will look forward to another from ya. |

Wow, thanks a lot for the review! This is the kind of criticism and straight-forwardness I'm looking for.
About the transition from Infusion to Oliverio, I actually made this mix to fit around the Oliverio track. My friend Cici wanted me to make her a cd with that track on it because we saw Hernan Cattaneo together not too long ago and it was one of the peaks of the night. This mix is different from what I normally play, I really don't have much of that style so it was pretty difficult to come up with a whole 80-minute set list.
I totally agree about the mix dropping off going into the Trafik track. It's the only transition that wasn't phrased the way I had planned. It's my least favorite track of the whole mix and that's why I mixed out of it so quickly but I thought that the Rachel Stevens track brought the energy level back where it needed to be.
As for the melodic problem you had, I think I know what you mean. I love great melodies too but the purpose of this cd was to create as much energy as possible so melody kinda took a back seat. I actually have the original mix of 'Finding Time' which I absolutly LOVE. It's much better than the Killahurtz remix but it just didn't fit as well. The Killahurtz has more of that rock feel and that's what I was going for.
I'll definitely have some more mixes up soon and next time, I'm making a mix for me. Thanks again for your comments. |
