Paul Oakenfold (pg. 2)

How many times do people have to discuss Oakey and his "recent" stuff. 10 times a year? no, 20? ok more than that. With all respect to paul, i think its time he retires and stick with producing or remixing.

I can't believe that some people are talking about throwing tomatoes at him. Maybe read up on the history of trance and ibiza and hopefully you'll have appreciation of what he did for this genre of music.

let me get this straight. you'll bash tiesto all day and all night, but you're paying money to see paul oakenfold? :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

i saw him and july and he was a mess. the worst transitions ive ever heard. multiple occasions where he was galloping so badly the he just killed the original track and the incoming one appeared out of nowhere. the local DJ that played 4 slots before him was better.

You think I would pay money to see someone who has been known for slipping a CD in and playing a pre-recorded set?

en hell no I aint paying! Its a photo job!

If you've read those hundreds of "recent Oakey" topics that you referred to, then you'd know that those of us bashing him respect "what he did for this genre of music." The keyword there being did.

Demoted
We only bash what he's doing because of what he did do. We know he's capable of better he just doesn't seem to care most of the time.

to tell the truth...i like all the oakenfold and perfecto cds i have bought. includes Another World (my fav out of all of my cds), Great Wall, Creamfields, The Club, Perfecto Chills, Tranceport, and A Voyage Into Trance. All really great in my opinion. If u decide to go out and buy one...then i'd recommend all of them.

Dont really care bout the mixing on live sets...care more for what kind of tracks the dj plays and how well they go together.

To me, Oakenfold is still #1 on my list.
(crap, i can see a whole bunch of flamming ready to erupt from this post.)

No man, you usually don't get flamed for well thought-out, reasonable love for a DJ. But the live performance is a very important aspect to a DJs.. um.. "worth" if you will.

Oakenfold surely has given up lately, I saw him in July or something, same show idoru went to I believe ("touch my penis" pose. :haha: That sooooo describes it, it's sorta the jesus pose but more flabby and half-assed. :stongue: ).

Anyway yes, most of his compilations are HISTORICAL. Another World is most definately my favorite album/compilation ever.

But his live performance that night was SHAMEFUL. I can forgive mixing mistakes on occasion and I can even forgive a bit of a cheap track-selection... but.. when you play the same track twice! That really shows a lack of will. I'm pretty sure the guy gave up around the time Bunka came out.

But the Oakenfold of the past is differen't animal and if you didn't experience him when he was alive then you really missed part of the movement.

So the story of Oakenfold is a bitter-sweet tale. The man has so much talent in him but at the same time.. he is a lazy . He has had one good entry lately which was his two hour 'Orange Hours' set. Very good but kinda mild and with all the evidence entered into the court at this time I can only suspect that it 'wasn't all him'.

Anyway I would love to see a rebirth of the Oakey, but at this point I don't think it's going to happen.

Last I saw him was at Space 3/9/04 and he rocked my world. All the recordings I have post-1999 suck, but I'm always willing to give him another chance because of that night.

Frankie wilde was based on him..

I think..i mean i see a lot of similarities.
