Why do people grate carrot in salads ?

Just had a nice salad that i built up in the supermarket, but yet again, they left the carrot in so many thin pieces that it's not actually possible to chew it. I understand people serve it this way to make a small number of carrots go a long way, but it's annoying to those who like a chunk of it in their salad :(

discuss :p
Spyder
crunch

carrots are mingin!

but if i was to have a choice, sliced or chunked, it would have to be chunked, as long as its raw obvioulsy, nothin worse than boiled carrot:nervous:

wurd!! years ago my dad attempted to force feed me boiled carrots that i'd left on my dinner plate, within 5 seconds of them entering my mouth, i vomited all over the floor! Last time i ever tasted a carrot, probably a good 8 years. Just thinking about the taste of a carrot makes me feel sick.

chunked raw is good on salads, I dont like it 'boiled' as in saucepan, but steamed is nice and microwaved also.

personally i hate carrots in salad. grated carrots alone with vinegar, olive oil, and garlic yummm

because carrots add colour to your boring old green salad.
