i always like to expand my vocab too and wot me and my mates do is when someone uses a interesting word then they get a fist clash (wot the u call it??) for it haha, thats sounds a bit gay like that but basically they get some love for using a big word so we all try to better each other and i find that has helped us all over the past few years. |
hmmm...that sounds like a good idea. now i just need some smarter cooler friends hahaha :p |

| On my google homepage I have the word of the day from dictionary.com as well. I read alot of scientific jounrals (BAMS/JAS/JAM/JofC and monthly weather review----Met Majors know those) I read those for verbage within my degree. Otherwise novels, new york times, you name it. And I used to think comic books and cartoons would do it.... ah how I wish I could be 8 again.... |

so what do you people think about this? i personally subscribe to like dictionary.com word of the day and all of that. and i type up all of the words and definitions and stuff, but it's hard to remember all of them. i like trying to improve reading comprehension and my vocabulary base, although it doesn't usually find it's way into normal conversation hehe :p, but anyone else try to do this stuff? what strategies do you use? i just want to increase my capacity to retain the words that i've gone through and i'm not quite sure the best way to go about maximizing that...so thoughts? |
Hmm, I mostly just read the CORe. I must say my vocabulary has flourished since then. lawl |

:toothless
Edit: Bonus points to anyone who knows where that's from, Myra doesn't count, since she already knows ;) |
Scrumtralescent - Meaning the ultimate good. Nothing is better than something that is scrumtralescent. Will Ferrell used it first on SNL. |
