San Francisco I need to know

I'm from Vancouver BC and have been seriously contemplating moving to the Bay Area for the last year. In early November I will be heading down to check things out further. One thing that I want to know is what is the music scene like in SF. Do you have clubs that play prog/trance on a weekly basis and do well. Is progressive and trance popular out side of raves and big name events like armin or gabriel and dresden ?
I'm interested in getting involved in the local scene if there is one to be involved in.
Any info you have about places and nights I should check out while in town let me know. Im especially interested in places that showcase local talent on a regular basis.

hey b-good i just moved here from Vanocuver last February. The scene here is better than Vancouver at times, and worse...
ferry, avb, G&D, pvd, sasha, & digweed play here way more often than in vancouver...but play for weird crowds so i don't hit em all up.
the "massive" rave scene is practically identical, but there are tonnes of underground house/prog/breaks parties that go on......lots of house music!!
will tell you more later - but where in vancouver there is one event per weekend at best, here there are 3 a week..lol
