Im movin to Dublin from Vancouver (goin to med school at rcsi) and I was wonderin what the scene was like there. I browsed this forum and looks like there isnt that much trance stuff that happens there. Would I just be better off travelling to London or Amsterdam to catch the bigger shows? I'm gonna be there for at least six years so there better be somethin good...

For gods sake dont move to Dublin. Trust me. You'll want to move out of Ireland as soon as you can. Overpriced and dirty country. Full of people with godawful accents.

Ima get out of here as soon as possible.

Only club i've been to in dublin is the redbox which is being refurbished and expandedd at the minute but is re-opeing soon. Theres other clubs like spirit, owned by the same peopke as spirit in new york. There other clubs worth checking outside dublin, like shine, lush and the coach up north.

Useful websites:
irishclubbing.net (has a listings and events forum which tell you about upcoming nites in dublin, both big nad small)
shine.net (belfast techno club)
kellysportrush.co.uk (house/trance club on north antrim coast)

There isn't much of a trance scene in the south of Ireland, you'd be better off probably going across to the U.K. for big nights, seeing as the only ones you'd get in Dublin are Godskitchen (twice a year), which is usually overpriced (around €45 for 6 hours and 6 DJs). You'd be better off going across to the UK for any of their big nights instead.

[In saying that though, the next Godskitchen Dublin (October 30th) is rumoured to have Armin, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, and Eddie Halliwell]

There is a decent amount of other dance nights though, try ticketmaster for details, although not every night is shown there.

techno sounds good, too - we´re in Dublin Fr-Mon in December and a good party would fit in nicely.

Where to go for some decent techno?

Traffic (Electro & Techno) & Temple Bar Music Centre (House Vs. Techno) are best places for techno imo. Not a huge techno fan myself but both places are alright.

There's crap all regular trance in Dublin but there's some good house every now & again, can't wait for Luke Chable & Phil K gig this weekend. Anyway I hope you have a great time while you're around :)

Sounds like you need a holiday, man. Nah, Dublin's great. I'm not living there atm and I don't miss the overpriced drink but I miss everything else.

Thanks for the info... Ive been here for about 2 weeks now and I can see that its gonna be great once I get to know people.... there are soooo many pubs. People are great, and there are a lot of damn hot girls. I just rented a nice place at Hannover Quay too so I'm really excited. Only complaint I have, coming from Vancouver, is that no one smokes the green herb over here! Or maybe I just dont know anyone that does yet... if anyone does please let me know lol *hint*. Anyways, if any of you wanna meet up and go checkout some shows or show me around to the pubs and good clubs etc. feel free to call my mobile - its 086 8711862. Or you can e-mail me at [email protected]

Cheers
