The Orb/Juno Reactor track similarities.

Now I swear I'm right on this, but DJ Cinos can't hear anything.

Basically, listen to Outlands on Adventures Beyond Ultraworld... start it at 5.10. Then listen to God Is God by Juno Reactor. The riff from the latter sounds incredibly similar to the synth refrain at that part of Outlands.

Am I imagining things?
DJ Cinos
Answer the question people! I need to know the answer! :(
GrimReaper
Just listened both tracks and yes, those parts of the tracks do sound very very similar. :p

Well, considering that Alex Paterson has worked with Juno Reactor on several occasions, that's not really surprising is it?
DJ Cinos
Now... seriously. Could you cut out the similar parts? Because I can't hear similarities no matter what.

I scanned the inlay and it mentioned thanks to a Paterson, but not Alex. Besides, just because they've worked together doesn't prove that Juno would start basing riffs on Orb tracks.

But I'm glad other people can hear it too.

I didn't say that now did I. I just said that it shouldn't surprise anyone that one has been influenced by the other, since they later went on to collaborate on several occasions (Shango being one).

Yes. Influence is one thing. But influence between mutual artists rarely extends to copying exact musical sequences.

First post says that there is an incredible similarity, and now you're saying that it's "copying of musical sequences". What's it gonna be?

Have a biscuit for pedantry.

I meant similar or partially identical riffs, basslines etc. When artists inspire each other, they take away stylistic similarities or techniques. They don't often decide to reuse melodies.

If Juno heard Outlands and decided to adapt the refrain, that's one thing. It's not really being influenced by The Orb though.

If Juno has listened to The Orb for a long time, it will obviously have an impact on the music they make. Whether it's by Juno making a melody that sounds very similar to a melody The Orb used earlier or taking one of their production or structural techniques doesn't really matter. It's a result of the influence The Orb has had on Juno through the time Juno spent with The Orb's music.

COPYING something from The Orb otherhand implicates that Juno outright stole one of their ideas. Now that's not very likely if they both went on to collaborate later, is it?
SYSTEM-J
Are you saying it could have been a subliminal influence?
