Opinion needed: HW/SW synth users/producers (beginner or expert)

Hey fellow producers, synth users, or aspiring musicians. Chances are if you're reading this you use synth and may benefit from the following.

I recently had a conversation with Matt Picone (Access Virus employee and expert sound designer/programmer - aka M@), who is also a very good friend of mine, about possibly running a workshop (or several) for the benefit of synth users/producers (power user or a beginner) to advance their knowledge. The idea was to establish a training program to teach synth concepts and more - on all levels, expert or beginner.

Matt is an established musician, has been working with Access Virus since the early days and for the past few years a key programmer and tester for Access Virus in US. Chances are, if you own Access Virus, you have played or heard his patches - check for patches with 'M@' suffix. He is also credited in Access Virus user manual and wrote articles for several trade magazines and websites.

Matt also worked for Korg and in addition to Access Virus he's also a consultant for number of other hardware and software companies. His clients include Cakewalk, Native Instruments, Creamware, Eventide, Merck & Co, and many others. Matt is also a virtuoso guitar player and toured with number of bands, including his own band, sponsored by Adidas.

Getting back to the idea and question...
I'm sure many of you have at one point or another hit a "road block" in your synth programming/producing and thought to yourself "Man, I wish there was someone to answer my questions in plain terms and show me how to solve this problem or answer this question". This class would be a perfect opportunity to learn exactly that!

The plan is to run local workshops as well as distance learning seminars. Topics would only be limited by your imagination and range from getting the most out of your synths - be it hardware or software - or how to setup your DAW/studio.

The concepts you're going to learn will be applicable with just about any synthesizer, studio, and style of music. Classes could differ by topics and key area of concentration. We can have a class focused on Access Virus alone, general synth use, software, or studio concepts.

If you had a chance to learn from the expert synth programmer, studio engineer and musician, what topics would you want to see covered in the program, how long would you want this program to be, and how much would you be willing to pay for something like this - be it in a classroom setting or distance learning?

So, your thoughts?

Why not record a/several quicktime movie(s) and release it on the internet (for money or for free) or on cd/dvd? That way you reach a much bigger audience, local workshops reach only a few. That would be great(er)

Tutorial is already in the works... Matt will be making it for Virus and it should be available on Virus website sometime in the future.

... more Virus-centric ideas are in the making, too...

Is it gonna be a video like that one guy suggested? That would really be cool. I can't see myself paying for a written tutorial though.
