Important question about buying vinyl!

Hello everyone, I have just started to buy DJ equipment, and now I am in the process of buying vinyls for my decks. I don't care what track, but I am certain it has to be trance. Now, there are record stores that sell vinyls in my area, but they only sell classic rock and oldies, definately not trance! :eyes:
Now, I am just a bit curious if there are any stores in NYC that sell good trance vinyls. Since I live fairly close, I could make a day trip there just to buy vinyls.
And what online stores are good, and USA based? No offense to all the europeans here, but I just don't trust the credit card companies with the currency conversion. Not to mention the huge overseas S&H charge.
I would really appreciate any help. Thank you. |

Chemical Records has good shipping rates. They also dont include VAT for US orders so in the end, you get the same deal as a UKer. Not trusting credit card currency conversions is another issue, but don't be an anticorporate activisits for crying out loud! |

the record store thread that sticked is great place to start.
found a lot of stores i completely forgot about, and found some new ones to work with.
i don't even know where west kinky is... (or what ever the name of the city is where you live, it doesn't show here under your name on the reply page.) so i can't really help you w/what's local |

you may as well buy off the net, its not gonna be much (if at all) more expensive than doing it in person. For example here records sell on the net for about 5-7 bucks cheaper than stores, so that easily covers your shipping. |

plus, if you're in a city/state that collects sales tax. buy from an online store outside your area. a lot of the times, online stores offer free shipping if spend more than a certain amount. (-i think it's $60 for satelliterecords.com) even though free shipping = ups ground, or media mail... = 1-2week wait for records to come in the mail.
you can save some cash that way, or use the savings to buy more records. -that was my main move. the more you buy, the more you save. -IF you can afford the wait.
so far, after several years of shopping online for records, i have not had a problem w/records getting damaged, or getting warped records.
the only problem i ever had was w/yooshi. i ordered 2x from them, w/in a couple of days. first order was processing when i placed the second one, if i had waited long enough -they would only screw my once, instead 2x. (this was 4-6 months ago. before the did the current version of the site) never got any tracking numbers. the wait was a lot longer than usual. the totally messed up my orders, as in sending remixes, instead of the orginal versions i had ordered. the order was only partly filled. and in one of the orders, i got someone elses order AND invoice packed in w/my ed up order.
i don't know if it's my bad luck, or they have boneheads working for them. but that was the first and last time i ever ordered anything from them. it's a shame because they have stuff i want, that i can't find (new or used) anywhere else. i'm too lazy (not to mention poor) to fly across the country to shop w/them in person. -i don't think the actual record store still exists. |
