Should I buy PS2 for 119 or XBOX for 129

| No, I don't care about the new consoles coming out. I've got a few extra bucks and it would be a fun way to spend some free time with sports games and such. I'm not a hardcore gamer, nor have I owned a video game system in like 6 yrs, so if you guys could tell me which is the smarter buy that'd be great. |

Well... I'd say to go for the PS2 considering it has a ton of great sports games.
Pricewise? Both are about right where they need to be. |

| Well its a matter of opinion, but there is nothing that can touch a modded Xbox with an X3. Buy the Xbox, mod it with an Xecuter 3, and you'll be the happiest man on the block, I promise. |

Since he said he's not a hardcore gamer, I doubt he'd really be arsed with modding and whatnot.
PS2 is a safe bet. Plenty of good sports games on there. Plus you should be able to find plenty of second hand PS1 games for next to nothing if you're up for getting some classic gameplay from those older games. :) |

doesn't ps2 & xbox have the same sports games? just different control schemes?
personally i'd go with xbox because i like halo, burnout 3, need for speed, nhl2k5, nba street 3. now most of those r on the ps2 but the xbox has better gfx, i like the controller better and i find the build quality of the xbox products much better than ps2's, i've gone through 2 or 3 ps2 controllers. btw i have both ps2 & xbox.
not 100% positive but i think the only thing ps2 has 1up on is rpg's but im just guessing. |

| ps2 all the way. there are much more games on the market, used and new, which pushe the prices down a lot and offers much more variety. the graphics may not be as good, but ur not a serious gamer anyway. |

i'll concur with PS2, games tend to be better
may I suggest Burnout 3 for the casual gamer, that game definately owns, my friend has it and it never gets old |
