and what are you doign with your computer ??? Browsing web page ???
Load it a 100% for about 30 minutes ( like when your converting video or working on sound conversion and you will see how high the temp get. |

I dont wanna flame but imho pentium is waste of money, u can get a far better processor (AMD) for the same money.
My vote to Amd :) |

AMD all the way.
I just bought a AMD 4000+ 1ghz FSB and HTT, runs at 2.41 solid...oc'ed it to 3.0ghz and my friend a 3.2ghz P4 to 4.0ghz and 800mhz FSB and has 2 gigs of dual channel ram i have 1 gig of DDR400 ram and i beat the living crap out of his PC. Same SLI setup on 2 7800GTX 's =). |

I don't know to much about computer specs, but my PC runs with Pentium III and it gets the job done.

wat the hell is hyperthreading anyway i've seen it in ads but never knew, My comp is so old i need to get a new one, but im running amd lol
900 MHZ!! |

| The HyperThreading emulates another processor like a dual core, and this isnt guarantee of better performance, in many reviews i heard that in some software u need to disable it to get better results :p |

| so then amd has the dual core how is that? |

I dont know why but,it does not really make any diffrenece to me what what CPU i use, cause i mean we need to get the facts correct AMD is good for games, and it does not mean that games has nothing to do with music production cause i mean 3D games uses heavy floating point calculation and so does the audio software we use .But hey wait !Dont the graphics card render 3d calculations ? emmm so in theory that allows the cpu less work do.
What i dont like is the heat dissapation on the AMD CPU`S but its ok cause i mean it did not lock up or even crash my pc ever so i think its more of a mind over matter thing.
As for intel i cannot comment on it cause i dont own an intel cpu but my friend does and i use one at work "3.0Ghz " and its goood cause i can multitask like crazy !
Its very tough to compare AMD VS INTEL :conf:
Maybe someone could give us a benchmark ! AMD vs INTEL and run cpu hog software like FL Studio or something.

| So nobody else has seen that article about the pentium M that is supposedly owning the P4 in both increased speed and decreased power consumption? I am still waiting to see what becomes of that proc, it seems to be a good one for noise reduction while still ranking high in those silly benchmarks. I saw that tomshardware article about it. If I had to buy something today I would buy an AMD, but I am putting off my purchase because it seems like some breakthroughs are just around the corner and I hate buying something then later seeing some revolutionary new change come out right after I am out of money then everybody else gets it except for me. I wouldn't buy a new CPU right now personally, I think the prices are going to change alot when windows vista comes around. I have a feeling intel has something up their sleeves. So many weird variables at the moment, I prefer to buy stuff when the market is a bit more stable so that I don't risk spending too much money or being obsoleted too fast. |

in brief, 64bit means that the processor can read or write 64 bits (8kb) of data every time from/to the memory. processors are doing it billion times a second (depends on your clock speed - ghz/mhz), which means that your pc supposed to double its speed (from the old 32bit pcs, and of course only when we'll have software that support 64bit). |

Have to confirm that, at high CPU loads the P4 reaches 60-70 degrees.
That's a big problem, cause you're not able to get the maximum out of the processor until you buy a faster fan, but then you'll get an increase of noise (what no producer really wants).
Using quiet fans with a Pentium 4 (2,8Ghz in my case)is nearly impossible if you get CPU loads at 60 to 80 or 100 percent, the temperature reaches 85 degrees @ 2500RPM (Papst Fan).
I wouldnt say that Intel has something special in the pipeline, what they plan is viewable at their site, there's a roadmap. I heard that they going to release faster versions of their Dual-Core CPUs in the first quarter of 2006.
Dual Core is definetly the future and it's currently already available, even if the prices are'nt enjoyable at the moment.
I would recommend to wait a bit until the AMD Athlon 64 X2's and the P4 D 3 and 3,2 are at a human price-range and then making a great step (if you trust all the benchmarks and discussions over the last time it is a big step). For all who cant wait there's also the Pentium D 2,8 for 250-Euro, which also should give a good "boost" ;-)
I would'nt recommend AMD or Intel in general nowadays, just go for the one that brings the better solution for you. Intel has a good / cheap start model (the 2,8 D) whilst AMD brings us high-end performance but also higher prices at the moment.

yeah i know what it is lol.. i just dont get why everybody wants it when there is no software taking advantage of the new technology.. |
