Help with wireless network card

So I got a wireless network card, but unfortunately it's not working properly.
I can connect to the network, but it won't let me send or receive data. Very weird.
The card is Acer IPN2220 Wireless LAN card if that is of any help.

| Sounds as though the network may be protected by a WEP / WPA key and/or has mac address filtering. In both cases, the card will appear as though it is connected, but will not actually transfer data. |

| yeah find out what the network key is and you should be good to go |

| That's interesting because I am connected to the network via a regular LAN cable. It's not just this network that I have the problem with. It's same with my school wireless network that is configured for open port access. |
