Korg has unveiled the Legacy Collection - Digital Edition which consists of updates to the Wavestation and MDE-X plug-ins plus the addition of a virtual recreation of their "classic" M1 synth from the late eighties / early nineties.

this is good news

The sound engine of the Korg M1 is now available as an eight-part multi-timbral virtual instrument, and has been brought up to date with many new features. Topping that list includes a powerful resonant filter and dual Insert effects.

In addition to the PCM and Program/Combination data of the M1/M1EX, all of the data from the 19 optional PCM/Program cards is included, along with new drum samples and entirely new Programs - providing more than 2,700 preset sounds.

just wish Roland would follow Korgs lead and release virtual copies of JD800, Jupiter 8 etc

Just remenber... M1 was a sucessful ROMpler from Korg without resonant filter. Nothing more or less. Maybe it can be useful for some orchestral strings, grand piano or something like that. Of course, I prefer much more Albino, FM7, Pro53 etc. etc.

^ Yeah but the updates to Wavestation alone would be worth it - hopefully they've resolved the latency problems!
