What should we expect? Not familiar, but if he's playing with Evil Nine, I'm sure it's good.

I can't believe so few of you even viewed this thread. Need I say more than that Adam Freeland picked them up for his Marine Parade Label, except that Pete Tong selected "You Can Be Special Too" as the album of the year for 2004 according to his introduction of the 3-20-05 Essential Mix.

Edit: I see that Toastie Taylor collaborated with Evil Nine on a track right before Armin's (specifically noted for Hitokiri) "Serenity" on the BBC dance singles list. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/dancesingles.shtml

I was wrong. Toastie Taylor definitely detracted from a solid Evil Nine set. He sang reggae/hip-hop style vocals throughout the entire set. I learned to block it out and just listen to the beats, but barosoap didn't fare as well. She said she's wearing a "Take a Break, Toastie" t-shirt if he performs with them again.

Weird set-up tonight. AM Only must have been doing some sort of showcase, because the musical styles differed quite a bit. We got there at 10:30 and caught a bunch of Tommie Sunshine's set. Never heard him before, but i was really impressed. He looks like Rob Zombie and was playing really hard punkish sounding techy breaks. Then Men, Women, and Children, a band played. They actually brought out most of the crowd, but I didn't really care for them that much. Evil Nine came out and kicked ass, though. They opened with Crooked and also played Pearl Shot and Restless that I recognized. Would have liked to have heard Devil Stuff or We Have the Energy. Or Blur - Song 2 (Tom Middleton Edit) that they played in their Essential Mix.

Oh, Timo Maas walked in near the end of Evil Nine's and was hanging out with Josh Wink before Wink got started, so no worry that he won't make it to NYC for Ultra. I don't really feel Josh Wink's style. I can appreciate that he's technically good, but he just doesn't make me move. Had the same problem when he played with Sasha in May. We stayed a few tracks and then left, because he didn't start until 1.

Good seeing Avikonen out again.
