| until now i thought DUB mix is a track without vocals...well i realized i wrong when i heard the v dub of marco v's godd.. so tell me what is DUB ?? |

| Normally that is the case but on my Temple Of Dreams vinyl it says that the dub is the one with the vocals and the club is the one without :conf: :confused: :conf: :confused: :conf: |

| well those are not rules set in stone or something.. but yes dub means less vocals.. instrumental means none.. sometimes dubs are no vocals.. it just depends on who's naming it and writing it.. *shrug* |

On Secret Cinema Volt! vinyl there is

NEITHER have ANY vocals at all....not even a scream or sigh
so less vocals doesn't fly |

but GENERALLY , dub is known as less vocals (like the others said before me) |

| im gonna make a cd with vocals on every track and then every song is gonna be called dub version this and dub version that. then ill be a cool dj like the rest of them. |

Dub's actually an old, old music style which is kind of a pre cursor to reggae.
In the really old Jamaican recording studios of the '40s and '50s, prior to multi track recording, the backing band would often record a really simple bass'n'drums version of the song they wanted to record, and then play it back through headphones to help them keep the beat while they were recording the 'good' take of the song. This minimal version of the song became known as the 'dub' version.
Somewhere along the way, it became cool when releasing the single, to include the 'dub' version on the other side of the record, and from there it kind of grew into a musical style of its own.
Leading proponents of the style included King Tubby, the Upsetters, and Lee Scratch Perry.
Nowadays, it's cool to call any remix of a dance song that's fairly bass'n'drum heavy with minimal vocals or frills, a 'dub' version. |
