Turntable 101

Lesson 2

Today we will discuss a very important factor when purchasing dj equipment.

SAVE YOUR MONEY BEFORE YOU BUY EQUIPMENT

Even if you don't plan on becoming a popular dj or even becoming serious with it, you still should invest in quality stuff. The mixer you can get away with a cheaper unit but for turntables it is suggested to go with higher end ones. The reason being is that when you buy an expensive deck and become serious with djing you won't have to complain or whine on how you didn't buy the equipment from the start. But let's say you are one of the few who hates djing and decides not pursue it. Well, because you invested in technics or any other high end table, you can now sell the equipment online for nearly the same price. It's a win win situation. Besides who is willing to buy used cheapo turntables.....nobody! Therfore it makes sense in every respect to go with the best turntable.

I suggest for an entry level two channel mixer that everyone go with the djm-707 it's a solid mixer with an optical crossfader that is sure to last. But this brings up a new issue which we will discuss in later issues. For now please take that piece of advice.
punjabi
my only piece of advice (at this time):

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BEHRINGER!!!

oh and definitely agree with the guy above me...save your money and get quality starter gear. i did, and i don't regret spending the extra money one bit.

Since this thread is gonna be alittle messy, what Im gonna do is Im gonna keep a log of all the specifications that go onto this thread for different types of DJ equipment, once we tap all of it, Ill post a clean cut thread.
Vlad
We could also make a section of definitions, defining even the most redunant of parts on equipment, so that new people can just refer to that thread if they dont know what a function on something does.
Vlad
Heres something Ive been working on..

No there isn't. Only 10, 20 and 50.

Or if there is they've hidden it pretty damn well since I've been using TTX's for almost 2 years now and still haven't found the option...

Maybe you know better than Numark than? Cause those spec's are taken from their site. Optional doesnt mean hidden, it means you have to order the turntable with that option.

Try this if you will. Turn on your TTX and then hold the pitch button down and watch the display.

I was looking to see the price on the djm-707 and for some reason i can't find the mixer for sale on music123 or musiciansfriend so if you are looking for the next best thing for a mixer, get the sa-12 from stanton it is selling for 300 us and comes with effects not to mention the mixer was selling for 500 two months ago. Get it while supplies last. If i had these golden opportunities when i was buying my dj equipment.....my set-up would own

It's only the 3x champion, DJ Craze signature mixer!" This battle mixer (designed for the champ) has all the flexibility and quality of a club mixer but has all the requirements of today's Turntablist. The SA-12 incorporates a "user-friendly" removable effect module that any DJ can install [one of three sound modules available]. These modules can then be assigned to either channel (1/2), the microphone, and even the main mix.
