anyone has cd decks???
what kind do you have and where did you get it, for how much?
I went to this dj store in my town, and they want to charge me 700 bucks for one, I think it is too much (maybe ' cause I live in the middle of no where)
any cheap sites???
thanks |

I don't own CD decks, nor have I ever shoped for them, but I'm almost positive that they must either mean $700 for a pair of GOOD CD decks or they have a serious crack problem and rely on people that were born the day before to support their habbit. If you look in the right places you can score a Technics SL MK2 for $550 to $600. I think the reason a lot of people get CD decks in the first place is because they are cheaper than TT's. I'm leaving work at this moment so I'll give you some good places to find you a set of decks when I get home!:D

A friend of mine has a pair of Gemini CDJ-10.
They are pretty good and small, convenient CD players with pitch control, cueing and stuff. Great for beginners, and also for learning how to DJ.
A good price for one would be $110. See if you can find it at that price. I think you should be able to. |

On sapphire.co.uk they're charging £125 for one. That's almost twice what you said (assuming you meant US dollars).
Do you know anywhere in the UK that can get them cheaper, as I am considering those decks. |

Well, what is $1 US equal to in pounds?
Yes, I meant US dollars.
You should be able to get ONE of these for $110-120, US dollars.
Hence something like $220-250 for a pair.
For example, look here:
http://www.123dj.com/cd/gemini/cdj10.html
they're selling it for $119/each.
You can probably do even better ;) although not by much. |

I just looked at various web sites in the UK, and it seems like they're ripping you off
Maybe it would make sense to order from a US on-line store, because even with the shipping charges ($40) you'll pay much less!
There's a package consisting of 2 Gemini CDJ-10's, a pretty good Gemini mixer, headphones, and cables -- in short everything you need to begin DJ'ing. It's called Gemini Disc-o-Mix 3.0. In the UK it seems that this package costs 480 pounds.
Meanwhile, you can buy the whole package for $350 USD (wow!) here:
http://www.123dj.com/a_packages.html
And I think they ship OUTSIDE of the US. Think about it, if you can wait a few weeks, you will pay like $400 for the whole package with these very nice CD players, instead of 480 pounds! I'm pretty sure 123dj.com ships outside of the US. |

The pound is worth more than the dollar.
$120 (American) is about £75
It costs £250 at Sapphires for a pair, so basically we pay an extra £100 or $170 than you. |

It costs £300 at Sapphires for a pair, so basically it's a third cheaper in the US  |
Yep, they rip you off in Britain.
By the way, just out of curiosity I also looked at the price of Technics 1200 in the UK, and it's WAY more expensive in your country, as well!
Seems like DJ equipment costs more over there... |
