I think you mean something like this?

I think the sound is made with some squares, with a short filter envelope (low frequency, with a bit of resonance).

because the original sound is a processed sample of someone hitting a big kettle ;)

of course, you can make similar sounds, but the very same.. in my opinion, it cant be done.. but sure, go ahead, make my day, dress me up and call me a bitch if im wrong. :D

I don't believe the orig sound is hitting a kettle. I think it's an FM based synth. Probably Yamaha TX, some other fm rig could do.

no its just my english that sucks.. its one of those big thingies people used to wash their clothes in... i read it in djmag som years ago..,
