| the new CME keyboards rock. I have an evolution keyboard and it's nothing wrong with it but for the same price you can get the smallest CME midi keyboard and it puts all other competitors lightyears back! :) |

49 keys should do u fine...thats 4 octaves....
u can always adjust the octaves up or down with the press of a button so it shouldnt be a problem |

| I'm going on Vizay with this and have to say if you're budget is 200pounds, then go for a CME. They have less of a toy plastic feel then all the other keyboards mentioned in this thread, and are built strong. If you want something that's heavy and can take a battering: get a CME. |

why???plan on beating someone with it???
its not the feel that matters when all u want is to input notes withthe right velocity and u have x amount of knobs and sliders as u feel neccessary |

Anytime I touch an evolution series keyboard I'm scared of breaking it. The same would apply for the majority of cheap keyboards: they're plastic and light. They feel like toys. If you're budget was restrictive, I'd say go for an evolution, or another generic keyboard as they would do the job. If you have a budget like this however, get something that's built nicely and sexy enough to whack off to every day. |

Unless you're doing live performances, you won't be needing all the knobs and faders.
M-Audios Keystation 49e is a better pick for the home pro musician:

i have the m-audio radium 61 and its pretty good, but if i could go back and do it again, i think i'd get the korg kontrol. (but its only 49 keys, i prefer 61, so hopefully they'll make a bigger version)
the CME keyboards look fairly solid and cheap to (although i've had no experience).
i think the mother of midi controllers is prolly the novation remote 61 keys (i like more keys, although they have smaller versions) although that one is pricey and prolly doesn't fit the budget. |
