Now that I think about it, there were 2 laptops on stage at the CP show. Maybe one was Serato Scratch, and the other Ableton?
Vlad
He was using Ableton, you could hear the samples in some of the tracks and the transitions.

At Passion, when he switched on his mac, OSX started (ofcoz) and then he started Ableton because the big Albleton logo came up on the screen. Not that I was peeping or anything..

You don't need Ableton to do sampling... although admittedly when you hear people dropping in samples these days the chances are it was with Ableton. Personally I'm a bit too poor for such technology (both the laptop and the software) :p so I've had to make up loads of CDs of loops & samples, but at least it can still be done.

Jon - are you still going to be in Soton this weekend? Or have you already moved out of the great Monte? I'm gonna be down on Saturday night, would be good if you could join us.

Ok everyone, stop.

I'll end the rumors here.

PVD@Cubix washington DC.

You see serato and ableton. From what I saw he was doing a couple samples from it. That and also he was playing a couple tracks from it. I dont get why since he has Serato right next to him.

Could it be that one of the laptops belongs to the guy who played just before PvD, whoever that might have been?

Sampling from ableton is easier. Since you have a midiclock on it you can just hit play and it'll sync with the song :) No need to beatmatch ur accapellas or ur song rifts.

No, becuase I went to see him at DC then later went to Central Park NYC for his show. Both laptops were there also. There's no denying it.

Oh of course it is. For me part of the fun is matching it up, but hey if it sounds good then I don't care how people do it - the easier it is to do it the more things they can do at once so the better the show can be, right?

And a rift is a break in something or a rise in the ocean floor across a plate boundry  , etc... I think you mean a riff ;)

Thats pretty interesting. I didn't even know you could control SSL or Final Scratch with a cdj. And using ableton and ssl thats nuts! Seems a long way from vinyl thats for sure!
