Film Festival reviews - put them here

Unfortunately, I only got the chance to see 3 films, so here are my reviews...

American Gun: Very much like Crash, but more melodramatic. It follows the lives of several different people and takes a look at how their lives are affected by gun violence. It was not bad, and I like the way the story unfolded, especially the ending. The picture was a little grainy and resembled a low budget TV show, which I wasn't too hot about, but I guess that's what was intended.

The Matador: Very funny, and amusing. Not as dark as I expected it to be, but enterataining nonetheless. Great performances by Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear as always. Apparently Pierce suggested to have certain scenes cut out of the final product because he feared that it was too dark, or vulgar, and might tarnish the reputation that he has with his fans.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance: Great movie. I didn't like it as much as Old Boy, and for the entire duration, I was wondering where the connection was. I don't think this movie is supposed to be directly linked with Old Boy or Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, other than the fact that each movie shares the same actors....Some funny moments....And it takes a parody approach to something very tragic.....Oh, and the cinematography and imagery was beautiful.

too bad its become more about "such and such is currently eating at such and such restaurant" instead of actually about the films.

Im glad to see good movies come to this city to get premiered but the way this city acts when stars come to town is quite embarrassing.

It's all about the illusion. I think stars are put up on a pedastal because of the illusion of perfection. They go on screen to act out the parts that we desire to live in our own lives, but aren't capable of, or don't have to resources to do....They live out our dreams, and they do so flawlessly. Everything is perfect, no hair is out of place, and nobody messes up on their lines. I think people get too wrapped up in that and completely lose site of the fact that they're just human beings with somewhat eccentric jobs, but are very much just like everyone else.

I have the utmost of respect for actors, but only for what they do, and what they provide us with....That being the fuel to add to our passion for movies....Other than that, I can't say much about anything else. I don't know them as people, and therefore have no basis for repsect beyond the fact that I enjoy what they do. I usually just greet them, say "I love your work..." chit chat a little bit, and continue on my merry way.

It does bother me at times that certain aspects of movies, like the oscars for instance, have taken on a purely superficial and materialistic approach...But I have to admit, in the past week, I partied like a rock star and went to more awesome parties on a consistent basis, than i've been to all year.
