I am receiving $600/month of food stamps ..

yeah ..
the government is sending me $600/month worth of food stamps, because of damn katrina .. :rolleyes: :o .. of all the things the government has to send to me, they give me free food .. i don't need it, because i don't eat much .. however, wasting all this good food money is very bad .. (i guess i have that perception, because my parents always told me to eat all the food on my plate, and never throw any food away in the trash .. )
after two weeks of grocery shopping, i have already spend $150. another two weeks to go to spend $450 worth of groceries ..
so what should i do to spend more of the government's money ?? :conf: :conf:
p.s. .. i already have a full stock of bagels, sprite, and red bull .. :rolleyes: .. what else should i get, foodwise .. ? |

i've never used foodstamps.
Can you trade them in for other stuff? Or can you go to a Walmart or Target or something that sells both groceries and ing other stuff?
I'd say do that and buy some CDs and a mountain bike and some rugs and a pup tent and slippers and some halloween candy, |

ive tried that .. :( .. they told me no ..
i tried at wal mart, the local grocery store, and target .. :rolleyes: :( ..
that is what sucks .. i would have bought something more productive than food products, if i could trade these stinkin food stamp money for real cash ..

* Do not make changes on any food stamp cards or documents.
* Do not sell, trade, or give away your food stamps, or any food stamp cards or documents.
* Use food stamp benefits only to buy eligible items.
People who break Food Stamp Program rules may be disqualified from the program, fined, put in prison, or all three.

is there a way you can give it to families that didnt get enough of an allowance and that really need it? for example, those with babies and that use formula? formula can be so expensive.
just out of curiosity, does the government give $600 per person? |

The Red Cross was giving out debt cards with $2000 on them for spending. |

$600 per family .
i could do that. help out my neighbors in need .. buy them food, if they need some .. i don't have to report that to anyone .. just tell them they are all for myself ..
then again, my neighbors look like they have money .. :conf: .. i am surely to find needy neighbors soon .. i am new to the neighborhood .. :) |

oh no ..
red cross only gave me $360 of spending money ... :p ..
the government (i guess food and drug association or another govt section) is helping the needy, and giving food stamp money to louisiana residents. |

that doesnt really have to do with food stamps. the $2000 could help with buying clothing and other stuff, i dont think that should be used for food. clothes, rent, it all adds up.
$600 per family? that is crazy. you are on your own i suppose, and you get $600, meanwhile a family gets the same? where is the logic in that? |

it varies i guess ..
i just told them i live by myself, and they give me $600 ...
maybe bigger families get more ?? |

I would just buy food with it.
Buy some lobster or something if you have trouble spending it all.
Do they let you buy beer and wine as well? |
