This gr8 tune has an obvious sad athmosphere (not very weird though, as the original is from the movie Platoon as we all know).

I'll add:
Dune - Who wants to live forever (trance mix)
The fem vocals are just chilling to hear but beautiful at the same time.
I remember one time I was on mush listening to this tune. Made me too melancholic. :( At that time it was on a summer night.. The silence.. The eerieness made me feel I was the lonliest person on earth...
Tunes like this tell us we have some issues to deal with on a very deep personal level.

Yes, you are correct. It is indeed a little sad.
Anyway, here are some other ones that stir sad emotions inside of me...
* Armin - Communication. Especially during the main build-up... ah, tears nearly come to my eyes!
* Major League - Wonder
* PPK - Resurrection. I don't like it in general, but the melody is very sad.
* Bells of Avalon - somebody mentioned it above, You're totally right! Very sad, especially when the bells start sounding...
* Atlantis - Fiji. Pretty sad moments there. In fact, you won't believe it, but when I first heard it, I thought that those quiet and hard-to-hear female vocals were: "You haven't loved me all these years, years, years, years" instead of "ooh ...???... Fiji, Fiji, Fiji". LOL. All the difference that the MP3 bitrate quality makes, eh? :)
And how could I forget my all-time favorite:
* Quadran - Unlovable. Especially when the keyboard chords start playing, they sound very sorrowful and sad!

But being unlovable is a sorrowful and sad topic, in general... So I'm not surprised :(
I want to tell you that most trance is based on minor keys. That makes it sound a little sad. I mean, if you compare it with a genre like rock'n'roll, for instance, - most rock'n'roll songs are all in major keys. But Dance, EuroDance, Trance, Techno, - in short, electronic dance music - is based primarily on minor keys, I've noticed. Anybody else notice this? |

i dont even know where to start, theres so many melodies and riffs playing through my head tacked to certain emotions.. i just cant out a song to the sound. Hmm, I'd have to say the Orb remix of Pink Floyd's Echoes is a sad sounding tune if youve seen it with 2001: Space Oddysey... just makes me feel really alone...
so thats not true trance so heres another:

I noticed. it comes as no suprise as trance is the "deep" electronic music genre. most of the great classical works are in minor keys. it simply sounds more intelligent, emotional, deep. major keys come off as powerful and happy -- not exactly trance specialties.
is techno really minor key predominant? I thought it was major. heh. rocknroll is definitely major. didn't paul mccartney say all the beatles songs were in E? anyway, here's my sad song pick:
