Sending tracks to labels to get signed... few questions for signed people out there

Hey guys.. I was wondering what is the proper way to showcase your work to these labels. How many tracks should be sent to them? If i send just 1 song, would that be enough to get signed or would these labels expect 2 or 3 at least to get a feel. Do they want mp3 format or wave format?...I hope this thread can be helpful to those who are interested in sending out their music to labels to try to get signed.
Here are some stuff I have found out from researching on the forums... please correct me if i am wrong.

1. Get your song finished and sound as good as possible.
2. The song should not be compressed or mastered, because usually the labels want to do all that to your song if they choose to sign it.
3. Put a nice resume to go along with it, because these labels want to see what else about you... maybe dj experience or something. Anything that can help you get signed.

That is about all i know for now... if anyone can help out and provide some good info please do.

Yeah normally you should send about three, to show you can produce more than one good track, any more than three tho and its unlikely theyll listen to them all.

Audio Cd is the best to send.

I wouldnt send an unmastered one but keep an unmastered one at hand as theyll prob want to master it themselves as you said.
