Just ordered a new heatsink, fan, and power supply so that I can overclock my amd athlon 4000+ to 2.6 V

Anyone know of any good guides online that will help me with what to set the Bios settings to and etc?

Thanks

when i overclocked my machine, i found this site - http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/ very useful. members are very friendly, very intelligent, and the forum is littered with guides on virtually every component of a PC. Top site.

i went the intel way about a year ago and went with a prescott 3.0e ghz p4 with an AI7 mobo, OC is useless without a decent FSB to handle the oc. so not only is picking the right processor and cooling system essential but the motherboard and FSB bandwidth is equally important. The mother of all hazards to overclocking is heat! You can overclock and run the standard os stable, but once you put a load on the cpu, you'll notice alot of things. it'd be recommended to run a brand new cpu (oc'd or not) for about a day then run a burn-in (sisoft sandra) and a 3dmark score.

Notice for all AI7 owners, we got cheated compared to the IS7. There has been a large flaw in this mobo where PWM temps have caused the circuitry in these boards to get overly hot thus causing the computer to shut down. I'm exploring options with abit as to what i can possibly do without having to swap mobo and/or format anything. Their recommendation is to glue heatsinks onto an area of diodes and capacitors which will keep the heat down. so not only do i have to build the computer, i have to now guess and check for hot areas on a mobo, then rig a heatsink to these unconventional areas. i'll report my findings LOLS

Sorry for not mentioning but I have an Asus A8N SLI-Deluxe MB. Couldn't have an 4000+ w/ out any other. Pretty damn good mb. I also have a gig of memory (two xm 3200's on it).

Thanks for the help so far guys. Definitly going to look into those links.
