nope its a promo copy distibuted to build hype of a track. because production is usually only a few hundred copies, they dont make up labels for the vinyls and just put a blank"white label" on it and give em out.usually they have the title and name of producer hand written on them(although not always). also the tracks have sometimes samples that are not cleared yet so they cant put a professional label on them yet anyway. i just bought one with a hand written label titled CRX Delux by someone named Jeannie L and im dying to know who it is cuz its a great record!

Ive always heard a "white Label" Is a demo-use only Cd,Vinyl or whatever usually with almost completed tracks on them ... but not enough tracks to make an album ... sent out to demonstrate a persons work ...

or a bootleg of a song. If a producer makes a sweet track and can't clear the rights for a sample they might just press a few hundred copies as a white label and distribute.

But if a person doesn't have the rights, wouldn't it still be illegal to sell those "few hundred" copies? :conf: |

well thats the thing, they dont sell them so much as give them away for big name djs to play or their friends etc. altho they do tend to find their ways to record stores where there sold. how many of us have bought arecord that says for promotional use only not for sale. yeah right...

NP. yeah the term white label was diminished for a while there particularly when trance and edm peaked between 99-01. supposed limited white labels were everywhere and were used to overhype a new track by someone big. but ive noticed the white label idea in its original form is making a comeback
