Torrent port question

I've been having a problem with torrents that I can't seem to figure out. I've been told to open ports 6880-6889, which I did, but I still am not connectable on *************. I then used a TCP viewer to see which ports were being opened when the torrent tried to connect, opened all those ports, and still I wasn't connectable. I then tried the DMZ option just to see, and I was still not connectable!
I do not have a firewall and windows firewall has been turned off.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? This is getting really frustrating! |

| are you on a router ? if yes then forward your ports on the router as well. |

A lot of torrent sites don't want you to use ports 6881-6889 because they are so commonly used.
Try 7881-7889 they usually work.
Port forwarding is tricky but there is a great website to help you out.
http://www.portforward.com
Check it out.
You shouldn't have to portforward unless you are behind a router. |

what torrent app are you using Graham?
most let you select the port range.. check options/preferences and look for a port range setting... pick something random (range of 9), then open those ports on your router. |

| Your ******** site is probably just blacklisting the ports you use as they're the most common ones and sometimes get throttled by your ISP. Open just one random port number (make it a big one) in your firewall and router, and then set the listening port in your client to that port. |

You may also need to set up a static IP address.
Check the site i sent you, it tells you how to do that as well. |

I have a static IP address. I went to that site, followed the instructions for my router for BitComet and it still didn't work. :whip: |
