Even though i am pretty much the only TA that attended, I will still share my review and act as if everyone cares. lolol ;) You guys are really in for a treat today at Love Parade.
Arrive at around 11:30 and while walking around the back parking lot, I see this huge tour bus all decked out with Carl Cox’s new album cover painted on the side. Now I am not the one to get all excited about a bus, but this thing was pretty sweeeeeet!!! Carl is defiantly riding around in style during his Voodoo tour. I don’t think I have ever seen another DJ ride around in something so amazing.
So I stand outside and chat it up with few peeps before going inside. I figure that the place was going to be dead, so what’s the use of rushing inside so quickly. After standing out there for only 20min, I must have seen hundreds of cars drive in and I witness dozens of valets running back and forth like mad men trying to figure out where to put them. Wow, could this be? Could I have not actually been the only one who didn’t go to LP? I finally decide to go in, and sure enough, the place is packed. :eyes:
Evil Nine are on and everyone is mingling and just warming up. A pretty good crowd too, very diverse. Not the usual Friday night vanguard crowd that I have grown so accustomed too. Evil Nine is playing pretty soft in the beginning. Slowly bringing in the hardness to crowd, trying not to get everyone tired out so quickly. I am just standing towards the center of the crowd, not trying to be up front this time. I am just barley tapping my foot to the beat. Scoping out the crowd and catching a glimpse of a familiar face every now and then. I see Adriana and her man walking up. We chat for a few and throw back a couple of drinks. Then Leon walks up and gives me a big smile and a hug. We too chat for a few and then I continue on. :D . I start looking up at the gymnast hanging from swings up above, and before I knew it, my whole body was moving and shaking all around. Evil Nine had just kicked it up about 10 notches and they are starting to throw down some hard ass funky house. Lots of dark and dirty bass just snuck up behind me and assaulted me. :crazy: They made sure they went out with a bang and finish the crowd off by throwing down some Prodigy. Wow, everyone is going nuts just as Carl walks up to the decks.
Carl comes on and he gets everyone jumping and screaming with the first few tracks, but then slows the crowd back down with some mellow prog. This man has got plans. So I decide to take this opportunity to go out onto the patio and chat it up with some peeps. I see JC from WiredLa entertaining as usual. He calls me over and begins to start telling the story about James Zabiela at Monday Night Social and brings back some good memories for me. I see Adriana and her man again, so I walk over and Adriana has this mixed drink in her hand. Some Jagermeister and beer concoction. Looks pretty nasty and she is hesitant to drink it. Then the next thing I know we bumped elbows and her drink goes flying up and lands all over my right pant leg. :whip: OMG WTF??? I am wearing white pants. Um yeah, there is no concealing this. So I decide to head back in where it is dark.
I find my spot again, this time closer to the front and off to the right. Just in time for Carl to start letting it rip. His beats have started to speed up and he is getting real funky. I start shaking and grooving. And before I knew it, I am screaming at the top of my lungs. :eyespop: Whooooooa Carl, I haven’t screamed this loud and this much in so long. Carl is having a blast and getting everyone to holler and scream for more. The bass is real deep and fast by this point and it’s out of control. More screaming, more hollering and more jumping around.
I decide around 3 am that its time for me to leave. I have absolutely tired myself out and need to retreat home. I have almost made it home when all of a sudden the drunk dialing kicks in. Oh God……….I have now joined the club of drunk dialers who actually think they can hold an intelligent conversation without slurring and laughing uncontrollably. :nervous: :toothless |

Glad you had a great time. :)
Sounds like a carbon copy of his Thursday show here in San Diego.
I just remember as the night went on I started jumping higher and higher and was screaming louder and louder. |

he he he yes lots of screaming last night. at the end of the carl cox video clip, that last three seconds you can hear me screaming. ha ha ha. I was screaming like that all through out the 2nd half of his set. |
