"SOFIA, Bulgaria (CNN) -- Eight teens were killed Friday night as they attempted to pack into a disco to celebrate the end of classes and the beginning of the holidays, authorities said.

The teens -- most of them between the ages of 13 and 16 -- were crushed in the throng, police said. Dozens more were injured, including four in critical condition on life support.

Medical officials said they were having difficulty identifying all of the dead and injured, because many of them had no documents.

Police said 1,000 to 1,500 teens had assembled outside Club Indigo, whose entrance is at the bottom of a flight of stairs, which were covered with ice. When the doors opened, many in the crowd slipped and fell down the stairs. They were crushed as those in the rear of the crowd, oblivious to the mishap, attempted to press their way into the club.

The incident took place at 7 p.m. (1 p.m. EST) in the center of the capital, where the techno music of German disc jockey Tomas Shumaher was the featured attraction.

Police have launched an investigation and set up a telephone hot line for parents"

I mean nothing funny and never did.......this is serious dude.....8 ppl died and they can't id the bodies.....imagine if you are a parent who had a kid going there and your kid has not returned yet.....you must be in grief. They report that Thomas Schumacher (I think this is the correct spelling) was playing when this happened. Your a dj and you want ppl to have a good time but when ppl get hurt or die......it must shatter them. Eugene.......i'm personally shattered because i'm a clubber and i hate bad things happening to ppl period but this is sad.....kids celebrate the end of school but something happens and 8 ppl are taken from us......If you ask me, it's sad and bloody sad. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family and even the dance community in general.

damn! that sux :(

that almost happened to last year. not the exact same, but the same deal. people in a big line up with fencing on both sides and the front. a few thousand people behind me started pushing (i was at the front) and everyone fell over, people got trampled, i got my leg squished between 2 fences and lost my shoe.

i hate crowds of people when they do stuff like that! :whip:

Yeah ... that's horrible to be caught in the crowd who's pushing and dragging you...

Once we got a snowboarding event in Austria here and at the end it was all the same with the crowd. Several ppl got killed too ... it's always so sad to hear that peaceful party people have to die :(
