im looking for some oldskool breakbeat stuff similar to The Herbaliser. i mean like really oldskool, really raw. Kinda funky, lots of sampling... but preferably fairly chilled out... kinda hip-hoppy but instrumental. On the "Blow Your Headphones" Album there are some instrumentals... im after stuff similar to that.
Herbaliser - Mr. Chombee Has The Flaw
Herbaliser - Theme From Control Centre
Herbaliser - Ginger Jumps The Fence
Herbaliser - Mr. Chombee Has The Flaw
Herbaliser - A mother (For Your Mind)
Herbaliser - Another Mother
those are the ones on the album i particularely like...any ideas?? |

The Herbalizer are one of my favorite band ever!!!!
try everything else on ninja tune label ( coldcut, amon tobin, mr scruff and so on ) but if you want something more into the funk/hiphop style of herbalizer you should check : DJ vadim or his side project called oneself ( www.oneself.com i believe )
also check what yarah bravo do with him, she ROOOOOOOOCKS big time!
or try DJ KRUSH he rocks big time too!
or try the very mercenary album ( OMG IT'S GOOOD )
:)
glad to see that other trance producers are open minded when it comes to music |

Yeah, Ninja Tune is great! 9 lazy 9, Plaid and Tosca are great as well. You probably already know Nightmares on Wax and Kruder/Dorfmeister. Dj Kick's compilations can never do wrong :D Prefuse 73
Swayzak can be hiphopish at times
Kid Koala
and Lovage's "Music to make love to your old lady by" is niiiiice :D
Ninja Tune and this http://www.k7.com/ is all you'll ever need. |
