Love Parade Afterparty VIP WTF????

Gets you this?
Sorry, but I gotta say that the Love Parade Afterparty VIP was the worst VIP I have ever seen. It began with the ticket lady outside the building telling me that I needed to go back to the line with 200 people and wait to get in, but finally after telling 3 different staff that the tickets said "separate VIP entrance" when I bought them, a man finally let me "take cuts" into the GrooveTickets line where everyone who had been waiting behind glared at us.
Inside, we couldn't figure out where VIP was. The downstairs staff told us it was upstairs, the upstairs staff told us it was downstairs. One of the building supervisers told me that it was either in room 104 (which was locked) or room 101 (where the emergency medical staff there told me they didn't know anything about it).
After waiting in line 15 minutes for a drink at one of the bars, the bartender didn't serve me and instead told me there was a VIP bar downstairs, so I went downstairs and asked 3 more people. One lady told me that she was just in charge of her little area and wasn't supposed to know anything more. Another staff actually tried to escort me around, but had no idea where she was going, and nobody that she asked knew anything either.
After visiting the upstairs bar again, and feeling very irritated, I asked the bartender wtf was up with the VIP bar? He replied that upon entry, VIP ticketholders should have been given a card that was good for 2 free drinks (he even showed one to me). I told him "forget it, I'm tired of this and want to enjoy the evening, just let me buy 2 drinks."
Out of curiousity, I later asked the VIP entrance staff about the drink cards, and the man told me that I had been misinformed. The real answer to "Is there a VIP bar?" was "NO!" but nobody could tell me this. Had ANYONE simply told me that "there's no VIP bar" I wouldn't have missed Koglin's set and it would have been a much better evening.
So, fifty extra bucks for a small, filthy room with Subway sandwiches, cookies, Costco brand warm sodas and bottled water. When I went back for another bottled water about 2 a.m., the unattended VIP area was out. So I went to buy one at the regular bar and they were out too!
I found the apparent lack of organization for this event appalling.
Spundae/Skills? I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about them. VIP? Never again! :whip: |

I share the same sentiment about this VIP ticket. None of the event staff knew what was going on about the VIP. I waited in the 1 hour 45 minute line with the other presale ticketholders, thought to myself, there's no way this is right... it's faster to buy the tiket at the door! I asked some security guy at the front who asked his supervisor and she told me the VIP line was on the other side. I went over there and the person said 'nope, back in the line you came from'. Luckily the people I was standing in front of let me back in line!
The only benefit I received from the $80 ticket was two bottles of water, a chair to sit in in a curtained off corner of the auditorium, and a dark quiet place to hide my coat. The sandwiches were meatless, gross, and other than that I saw cookies, fruit, and chips. I was also under the impression there was an alcohol bar also, at least beer, at least CHEAP beer!, but no, just unrefrigerated sodas and water stacked up by the case. I ended up spending and extra $30 on drinks upstairs. Also I remember the afterparty website advertising a giftbag with some stuff in it including an event tshirt. Never saw that either! The part about 'get backstage and meet your favorite djs', well that allowed you to get to the backstage "area" where you could run into the dj as he was coming or going up onto the stage. While they were spinning though, your VIP access wouldn't give you any visual sight of the actual booth. I never actually got to meet any djs because that would require me to watch and time every set like a hawk. Actually I take that back, I got a picture with Mike Koglin on stage 2, which was set up a little better for VIP than the main stage.
While the event itself was still fun, next time it's a regular ticket for me. I would have had much more fun knowing I didn't burn an additional $40 on two bottles of water :o |

| At least you didn't fork out $250 for VIP like I did for Tiesto NYE 2004/2005 here in LA. We didn't get . We waited in our "special VIP line" for over two hours and nearly missed Tiesto's grand entrance. After that I learned that VIP is like throwing money in the sewer. |

Well, I had a completely different experience :p
When I bought my GA admission ticket (the day they went on sale), we didn't know what the VIP ones would give you. I tried to upgrade several times on Saturday after getting no reply to my question in the SFLP2005 forum, but no luck--everyone told me they were sold out!
But once I got inside (stage 2), it became clear that VIP access was the only way to talk to the DJs and get some breathing room. So I got really  and left during B&J. Fortunately, I got a hold of a VIP wristband a short while later. (THANK YOU PETER!!! You rule! I will never forget this.)
From that point on, I was :gsmile:
I didn't spend much time in the VIP room, not really being hungry, but it was well stocked (except that, yes, they ran out of water at some point, with so many people leaving nearly full bottles behind :whip: ).
In retrospect, I would have definitely paid the extra $50 from the beginning for the chance to hang out with so many top DJs. I think Jono and Tony grabbed my hand at least 3 times while I was in front :eyes: Plus I spent quite some time chatting with them afterwards and friends throughout; even met Swamper :D That's priceless ;)
Moving to the VIP section turned this night from a disappointment in the making into an unforgettable memory. No way I'm getting just GA in the same circumstances next time :thepirate
I realize YMMV... |

| VIP was hit and miss... bad organization on getting into the Venue..IMO we shoulda been swooshed right in!! Standing on the side we couldn't see the dj very well if at all.. and no dancing in front of the stage..BOOOO!! There shoulda been some sort of booze back there..darn it!! Or some redbulls for us tired folks.. The bottles of water were nice..i grabbed a few.. :D No sandwiches for me...there was some fruit..I did noticed they brought in another big ass sandwich..and the water did run out...that sucked.. The good thing about it was..running into the dj's as they passed by..chatting..taking some pictures..:gsmile: It was cooler back there..There were some chairs and tables on one side.. that people were hanging out at.. Im sure the security thought we were nutzo walking back and forth!! 20 million times... Im still tossing the ball on if it was worth it...cuz hanging out with cool Dj's is priceless.... |

Well I had no issues with the Line really. I got in to the VIP/Artist line thinking that was the line. Well it wasn't but securty was kind enough to let gut threw the groovetickets line and get out tickets.
I got the wrist bad and flyier to see where the VIP was. From the looks on the flyier it was on the stage...
So I try to go up there with Kris and we where told no. We had to have a white wrist band WTF! I thought we got to go back stage. Shoot they wouldn't even let is in the Front side like the did for the TA stage! Also there was a few chairs to sit down on but that was it.
I found the "VIP" room with the Subway, chips, cheep non caffinated soda, fruit and water. WFT no caffine or Red bull..:whip: and I am sorry you should not eat food that is left out for an hour! EEWW EWWW Bacteria City!
Also hanging out with the DJ'w was hard since you had nooooo idea what time they where going to show up before they got on. I was lucky enogh to know when Markus was going to be there. but that was about it.
Kris and I where lucky to get asked to get back stage when Ferry Played :)
After that I am not sure if I want to spend the $75 for Monster Massive VIP.... |

DON'T DO IT!!! I had VIP for MM last year and it was a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!! Seriously Michelle, it is not worth it. You can't even see the stage from the VIP area and the lines for the "Open Vodka Bar" are insane. You don't get to meet any DJ's either. The baller crew tried it out and it was a HUGE dissappointment!!! :( :( :( Save that money |

Same situation at the tiesto concert in l.a.
There was an open bar but that was about it. Not worth it. |

You guys should all post your comments on the Spundae board. Maybe next year the afterparty will be more organized and those working it will know WTF is going on.
VIP sucks, IMO. :whip: |

I dont get why would anybody want to be it the VIP anyway.
Unless you new somebody in the VIP to hook you up with drugs,
why go and pay for a special VIP ticket.
VIP = very boring ...
most of the action happens outside the VIP Anyway. |
