I would say Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins were probably a bit earlier and deserve the credit for the invention.. but Mills and Hawtin have definatly shaped techno!! how many parties in the 90's did i go off to when they belted mill's "the Bells" or hawtins "orange"

I said "practically". ;)

You're right, those two didn't invent it, but they are techno legends, and The Bells still sets me off when I hear it. :p

damn.... I am not that original, then? I wanted to bring my JP8080 for PvD to sign but was afraid I wouldn't be able to bring it through - they'd think it was an explosive. But I did have the idea to have my gear signed. Not that I'd think it increase its value... For some strange reason, they only instruments that gain value by owner are guitars. I've yet to see a synth, unless played by some major super duper star (say, Eno or Elton John) raise any substantial ammount of cash over the "real" value. As example, Cor Finjeman's Jupiter 8 sold for "usual" price - around $3000.

So, don't expect your Tiesto-signed Cassio to fetch much more than its worth... not even mentioning a possibility that it may lose value.

oh, another quick tidbit. While selling my Jupiter 8, one friendly soul badgered me about high reserve price and said - "Oh, I bought my Jupiter 8 from Martin Gore (of depeche mode) for $1100, so yours is highly overpriced." -I offered to buy his at double that... and he didn't respond. Oh well...

You can probably rub it out with gasolene or something similar.

I would rather have an Sp 1200 signed by a hip hop legend personally....but each to their own.
