Am I the only one here who digs his music?

I bought one of his cds on a whim a few months ago, and have not been able to get enough since.

Maybe it's because he reminds me of home? I don't know. If you've ever been to SXSW or seen Austin City Limits you'll know what I mean.

Watched a documentary on him once. He would play so hard (and without a pick) that the skin would tare from his fingers pretty bad. He was awesome though. :)

I remember seeing him play with a pick:conf:

But you're right, he played pretty hard. That poor guitar neck, almost got killed. He was also using a set of 12ths guitar strings, which is ridiculous for an electric guitar playing that type of music!

His rendition of Voodoo Child live at Carnegie Hall is mind blowing.

Try to find it if you can.

The only other guitarist I have greater respect for is probably Hendrix.

Jimmy Page, Albert King and BB King are up there too though.

ive been into him for a long time now. If you want some stuff form him let me know. Too bad I never got to see him live, although my family has.

they say he was a black man trapped in a white mans body. just like me.

I adore Stevie, sometimes just listening to him doesnt do the man justice... he needs to be watched, what a performer! I have a couple of his DVD's that I watch very often.

My brother made me copies of In Step and Texas Flood, and I have The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble.

I would love to get this boxed set that has many obscure recordings as well as a DVD of one of his Austin City Limits performances:

I agree.

He died when I was like 6, so even though he played in famous Austin clubs like Antone's all the time, I was still 6.

They wouldn't have let me in.:) Shame.
