This is a pretty stupid problem I'm having and I looked thru the help section and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to put 2 melody's in the playlist from piano roll with different note tones. I was trying to put a pad melody in and another instrument melody in but everytime I do that it comes out with both melodys with the same tone. Does anyone know what I have to do to get 2 different tones from piano roll into the playlist? (FL 5) |

Please re-write the question, and be more precise.
It would be best if you uploaded the FLP file to www.yousendit.com or some other file sharing service. |

I think he may be trying to say that he wants to work with 2 different samples in 1 piano roll.
And if thats the case then i dont think you can do that(well at least to my knowledge and its lacking) |

Well, that seems kinda weird that I might not be able to do that. But I will write a melody with a pad (for example in trance songs it's usually kinda a background noise or it's a slower prelude to the actual main theme to a song). And I also want a melody with an instrument or to be more specific, sytrus-synth string-snappy is the particular one I like to use, which would be fast, unlike the pad melody. I would like the 2 melody's to play simultaneously but everytime I write the first melody with the pad and put it in the playlist and then write the second melody with the instrument or whichever tone and put it in the playlist and try and play the whole thing, it all comes out in the instrument tone (both melody's playing in the playlist at the same time).
By tone I meant sample. |

Maybe i still didnt understand the question, so if not, dont read below!
You mean you are trying to play two melodies in one synth instance?
Normally this isnt a problem, UNLESS: the synth you are using has a polyphony of 1 (1 note at a time), mostly its a setting of the synth, just increase the polyphony, but some synths dont allow this |

Clear some things up for us... how many channels are you using? 1 or 2? what are you using on these channels? sytrus? samples? another VST? where are you writing the melody? piano roll or the basic sequencer? and what pattern are you puting in the playlist?
screenshots would be even more help!! |

so what your saying is that you want to be able to play 2 seprete melodys at the same time from the same vsti. well i suppose it can be done however id just open a new wrapper for the vsti and put it as the second channel in the playlist. or if its a really dumb question id say the answer would be to make sure you selected a new channel on the playlist. ie have synth1 to playlist channel 1 and synth 2 to playlist channel 2 |

If you'd like to make two different melodies with the same synth and make them play together in the playlist, I think it's better to make two instances of the exact same audio channel (just copy the channel). That way you can 'draw' them underneath each other in the playlist and the 'same' synth will play the two different melodies simultaneously.
Unless there's a different point? It does seem like a weird question :) |

right click the channel, deselect "cut itself" |

1. Add the synths and samples.
2. Write one melody for each on a seperate channel (ie: pads on channel 1, main melody on channel 2, counter melody on channel 3)
3. Open your playlist. Click where you want each to play (they can be simultaneous). Left to right is the song time.
4. Change the song type from loop to song, and hit play.
Cheers. |

I figured it out, I had to insert more channels. Sorry about the unclear posts. It's cause I'm a beginner at using Fruity Loops. Thank you all for your help though, it was much appreciated. |
