She gave us this outline assignment to do, so I give it to her, along with 2 other people, to look over - she makes a couple comments, but she wasnt facing me so I didnt exactly hear her clearly, so when I took my paper back I asked her if I should redo it and hand it in again...

so she tells me "you didnt hear me?"
V > "I didnt hear you clearly, just wanted to make sure"
T > "Yes thats what I said"

Than she gives me this look, like im some sort of retard. Right then and there I wanted to crack her in the jaw - that pissed me the off.

One of these days she is gonna get under my skin, and Im just flip the out on her.

I hate the teachers who teach a volatile subjects dealing with things about racism, feminism, etc...without trying to shed ANY light on the other side.

Pretty much all classes come to to agreeing that:

White, American, heterosexual, christian men are the "norm" and people are only remarked on with they deviate

"Oh that person is a _____*"

*instert person of color (any color), bisexual gay transgendered, other world religion here*

I had to sit in a class where there was SOOOOOO much angry angst about the status quo. We looked into all the aspects deeply, and people just became angrier.

I am currently in a feminism class where I am 1 of 2 men in a 40 person class. The first 3 pages we read and it has compared calling a woman a "babe" to GANG RAPE (one being just a lesser form of patriarchal subjugation).

On one level they are correct. But 60 pages later and there is still no catharsis, nothing answering the most important question "SO WHAT"

It talks about the differences between men and women. About how guys are rough and rowdy and treat women gently and how women support their men....

they ignore the fact that men also support their wives. It references New Testament stuff (they didnt specifically reference Ephesians but I know thats what they were talking about) and how Western Religion has put men in charge. They failed to tell about the other HALF of that passage that claimed men are to be servants as Jesus was to man. Caring and taking care of his wife because she is his other half and to harm or subjugate her would to be doing tha to himself.

but they dont mention that part.

I guess what I am saying is that a teacher teaching something that important. Really taking a CRITICAL approach to these subjects HAS to explain the reason the current conditions exist. They talk about white power. My teacher was black for one of my classes and I asked her to please not insult MY ancestors who (regardless of how you think the takeover of North America was the French and all of Europe did it too) died creating this country and to please have a little more respect for their suffering and perseverance. The teacher was totally cool and said "Oh man, I am so sorry if I was coming off like that at all, I didnt mean to" and the whole class lightened up.

A lot of times when you are hitting these subjects so hard because you only have 10 weeks, you tend to not realize that a lot of people are keeping their mouths shut, and just hardening up inside as they feel attacked by some of these.

A teacher needs to teach people to think critically and REASONABLY first and foremost.

Again, referencing this feminism class I am in, I can already see girls gearing up to call their boyfriends a patriarch, or be upset when he tries to "take control" and just hold her hand.

I think to look at only 1 side of things impoverishes not only the learning experience, but their lives. The other half is making them realize that half of that stuff, isnt necessarily a criticism. Its telling them how it works. The author probably wasn't out to try to change gender roles and all of a sudden men are supposed to be giving birth, but it came off that way becuase it was a 10 page blurb from some book.

This was never explained and the people I talked to were kind of like "oh...yeah I guess I didnt think of that that way"

So to sum it all up, people who have a really strong stance, should have that stance not because it is the only thing they know and espouse, but because they have reached an elevated position of opinion through careful, well reasoned and well rounded thought.

The teachers goal in life should be to promote this.

also another thing that pissed me off was in a philosophy class I wrote a paper and wrote "Aristitelian" because of typo technology and the only comment on the paper she wrote was "Do you mean 'AristOtelian'?"

The teacher was some little of a woman with an upcurled upper lip that made her look like she was sniffin a dirty sanchez and she tried to be smart by destructive methods instead of constructive.

Man she was a sad case.

I took a feminist class one time, too. What interested me the most is we were talking about sex and one of the articles we had to read for class was arguing that "sex" is a MALE term because sex between a man and a woman ends when the man ejaculates.

Why?

Well we spent a couple class periods talking about this. It's interesting to think about, in my opinion. Why is sex over only when a guy comes? Why not for a woman?

I almost reached enlightenment thinking about this.

i think everyone should take a fem class once during the course of their education. a lot of terminologies are male-oriented...

the french dont call a man ejaculating la petite morir (or however the hell they spell it- it means "the little death") that for no reason.

The man is done. Its like saying why is a tennis match over when one of the players passes out?

I guess you could keep playing, but theres no point.

edit: and if you talk about a woman finished, and a man keeping on going...vaginas dont go limp, and at worst he rubs one out and goes to bed. Either way hes happy. Women are way too complex about it all.
