What more can they add? I mean there is hardly anything wrong with the CDJ 1000. The first make sure, but the make 2 (MK2) corrected those problems, like over-heating, the stiff jogwheel and rejecting some CDRs. The spinning platter is fine for scratch emulation, but most mixing DJs don't need that. Just let the song play, make minor adjustments with the jogwheel when needed, and mix. Thats what the CDJ 1000 is for, with the added scratch feature. You really don't need MP3 playback, and all those effects (thats what an effector is for...). Technics hasn't greately modified their turntables either..because they don't need to. So like the saying goes, if it's not broken...don't fix it!

Sure competition is good, not doubting that, but more features doesn't mean better product! Personally, companies that upgrade there stuff a lot are not as good as companies who establish themselves with one product, and may make some improvements later on (like different makes) but not neccessarily adding crazy features that only some people might use. Thats why Technics and Pioneer are better companies than say Numark, Stanton or Gemini, because they make quality products period, without constantly adding new gimicky features with each upgrade. I'de rather hold onto my CDJ 1000 MK2 for years and not have to upgrade just for some added features I'de never use or need.

Why can't pioneer make a serious CD player?

There are more than just EDM DJ's in the whole world. There are scratchers and people who do turntablism who would love it to get more of the vinyl feel. The CDJ1000 BLOWS for scratching. The feel of it is horrible and you can't get any farther away from not feeling like a turntable. If you don't like the spinning platter, so be it. Other people will love it.

This has everything a pioneer has, and MORE. It even emulates some of the pioneer features to piss all over pioneer.

I would like to see more clubs installing these.

With replaceable drives/parts you can order from denon in 3 days, it minimizes the downtime of your decks. If you need to get your Pioneer fixed, it could take 14+ days.

Understandable, but if your just talking from a scratching, turntablism standpoint fine, but I know hardly any trance DJs who are scratchers or turntablists. Sure there are prog electro/breaks guys like James Zambiela, but he uses the CDJs, and he hasn't been clamoring for more and more features. He spins on three of those usually, so if more features were needed, i'm sure he'd be promoting other people's products, like Denon's. I've only seen him use Pioneer. If there are more people on this forum who are turntablists, thats fine, but I never thought that scratching and tricks were a part of the trance scene. The hip hop and breaks crowd, sure, but not this. Not trying to sound closed minded, I just thought this was Tranceaddict, not hip hop/turntablistaddict.

You guys are right pioneer are way behind the times, flimsy static platters are nothing more than gimmick.. they needa take after Numark who brought out the CDX which feels practically exactly the same as vinyl.. I'm surprised that denon hasn't made the s3500 with a full 12" platter, provided it was a reliable unit, then they'd definately have a stranglehold on the CD deck market like Technics has with the 1200's - if only someone would just come out with a reliable 12" direct drive platter..

Yeah but pioneer aren't producing new gear their not going to limit it to being aimed solely at the trance community, and even for trance dj's .. and even with that being said, i'm sure most trance djs would prefer a properly vinyl-emulated cd deck rather than a plastic jogwheel

I really wanted to DN-8000 to come out :(

It was DVD Audio/Video compatible and had a huge platter with a vinyl on it

WITH ALPHA TRACK

BEAST :nervous:

It wasn't real...but it came from Denons servers...so maybe they are working on this for next year

No offense to you guys but you want all this exact vinyl feel. CDs are not vinyl! The whole "spinning platter" and exact vinyl emulation is stupid IMO. If you are just a mixing DJ, as I see the vast majority of DJs on Tranceaddict are of that type (there is other forums for talking about scartching techniques, this is NOT what most prog/trance DJs do), but CDs and vinyl are different mediums, thus they aren't going to be the same. Mixing needs to progress and it has, with CDJing and Ableton Live. It's beyond just cueing up a track like vinyl and scratching like vinyl. You really can't scartch a CD, you don't touch the CD like you touch the record to cue it up(duh). It's just not the same, thus it has a different way of going about it. I don't hear any of the big name DJs going out and saying "I want a spinning platter on my CDJs, I want all these effects on it, I want the precise feel of vinyl". They are pretty happy with just the basics. Sure they may spice it up with an effector from time to time, or use a laptop for some added stuff, but like I said.. CDs and VINYL are different and your not, even with Denon or Stanton or whoever, going to get exact vinyl feel, no matter how many upgrades there are!
Orbital32
you know what it is pretty badass, and cheaper then the CDJ's

http://www.denondj.com/prod_videos.asp?assetid=DN-S3500

for somebody that want a SIMPLE setup those will be peferct. 2x S3500 and a simple 2 channel mixer. that's not a bad deal at all. No need for an ex-box or a mixer with built in effects.

Yeah but how many DJs who just want to mix tracks need that? Even if your doing house, breaks, techno whatever, your not gonna be scartching and backspinning and "making" beats. Your cueing up a record with a jogwheel, pressing cue to save the cue point, and press play when your ready to bring in the next record. You may make some fine adjustments, but your not gonna be doing a bunch of tricks. Your focus is pretty much on the record at hand and the crowd. If your doing tricks, it wouldn't matter so much with this, as the crowd is watching you doing this. And that scratching stuff takes concentration, so does mixing, and most techno, trance, house and breaks DJs concentrate on the mix at hand and beatmatching the tracks, not properly doing a scratch technique.

The cdj1000 MK2 is a ing monster of a cd player...perfect in my mind. There is a reason why every single top dj in the world lists having cdj1000's as a requirement if they are to play. The cdj1000 is awful for scratching? Tell that to guys like Eddie Halliwell and James Zabiela. And how on Earth would you know how well this new Denon is going to be...its not out yet. This same buzz was going around when the Technics cd deck got released and now dj shops are begging people to take them off their hands because no one wants them. The Pioneer will be industry standard for a long time for a reason.

well said. cdjs are NOT turntables...stop trying to be like them. If you want to pretend that you're playing a real record, go out and buy that awful Numark thing. lol
