i dont want to stereotype every american, but i am just watching this television show and it is making me very, very, very, very, angry.
I am listening to these american teenagers in the supposedly smartest, richest, most powerful country in the world and these kids are trying to change the school curriculum in their high school to force them to teach Bible Creationism as fact alongside Evolution.
This science teacher just said that some schools in the USA have taken Evolution theory(THE ABSOULUTE CORNERSTONE OF BIOLOGY STUDY) out of the science curriculum. That is Absolute, complete insanity.
Sadly whatever happens in america seems to happen in the rest of the world eventually. I really fear for the future of education of the young when education is captured by religious fanatics who in their dogmatic, inflexible, fanaticism are no better than the madmen that used to run afghanistan |

| I think what school your in has something to do with it. If you go to a public High school (meaning they get funding from the state), they are not allowed to teach anything having to do with religion. It has to do with seperation of Church and State. However, if you parents decied to send you to a private or parochial school, than that school can set the curriculum, to a degree. |

You get the same thing in Australian and British private religous schools too, actually I doubt that the evolutionist side of the story even gets heard fairly or at all anymore!
When I went to school many, many years ago in Australia (& England) we had to have prayer before class, it was not fun, but if your like me you just prayed the teacher and your classmates would die.
I wouldnt get angry about it, its not worth getting angry over. If people choose to become less ignorant to different opinions then they will educate themselves eventually. |

| Watch what you say........i truly mean it. Look expressing your opinion is great but saying some ppl are completely wrong with no evidence and stereotyping religious americans is pathetic. They need to teach creationism alongside evolution because the Science community has been forcing evolution down the throats of kids. It's about time that creationism is offered along evolution, let the kids research the two views along with any other views and make a decision themselves. People need a choice and they should decide themselves instead of being told this is right and this is wrong, people rather decide for themselves with evidence from both sides. You seem very angry.....what's the matter, you say religious americans are dogmatic and no better than madman. Watch the stereotypes.........are some religious americans.....dogmatic......yes they are but are'nt some evolutionists dogmatic too, you always have two ends of everything and here is NOT THE PLACE TO EXPRESS YOUR HATRED. |

er, excuse me?
kids need to be educated about science so they will learn the vital skills needed to survive in the modern world, and become successful.
as for "forcing something down their throats", that's exactly what happens when you teach creationism to them. you don't give them a choice.
at least when they go to school and study evolution, it's something different from what they hear at home, if they have religious families. that way they DO have a choice. And, they can be successful in life with the skills they've learned.
Public schools must have NOTHING to do with religion, this is absolutely essential!! |
