hmmm, try Shift+F1 or Format - Reveal Formatting.

I have a newer version of Word so this is tough to replicate

Show or hide formatting marks:

Click Show/Hide on the Standard toolbar (meaning on the toolbar were the font size is all the way to the right the two double arrow thingy clickit and go standard toolbar and click on the show/hide icon which is a P or paragraph looking thing)

OR

Tools --> Options then View tab. Under Formatting marks, uncheck all

I think this is what you wanted...
fr3sh
no it didn't unfortunately

i have no idea what to do besides re loading the program

i just need to find the disc
Masonious
It's definitely just formatting that you're seeing and need to hide...not sure which version of Word you're using though :/
FuzzyChicken
lmao, this is ridicously (sp) easy to fix. If I understand what you want correctly... No need to waste more of your time by re-installing. Just ask one of your computer nerd friends to help you.

Anyways, gl with that.
