fool...a dj plays tracks, mixes them together to make people dance...he does not create music (he remixes it while he plays)...

a producer makes music, creates his own tracks...and those are producing software...not dj software...
Tony Morello
and if you're wanting to make music, you'll get better replys if you use the production forum

remix - if recorded - changing the bass is considered remixing the song...but yes i have phrased it wrong...as a dj you mostly mix tracks into one another...not a lot will remix on the spot...unless they're sasha, bt or...etc

I don't even think Sasha does that much at all.

I downloaded one of his ableton sets (that I was actually present live for), and really he just played tracks. There were a couple places where he kept things overlayed for several minutes, but that's all ableton's thing.

ok.. for example, dj dean, groove coverage etc.. are they not djs? are they only music producers?? just wondering..
DJ 00 Tommy
Lots of producers are djs and vice versa.
So some people when they produce a track will put dj infront of their name because they think it sounds good but most of the time it doesnt. Actualy theres a whole forum on the topic.

I think my head might explode any minute now.

Some people are DJ's and producers, you know..

they just put the nickname DJ in the beginning for different purposes. i assume one reason why they do so is to relate to electronic/dance music.

is Dr Dre a doctor? if so, wheres his clinic?
