why do you have to put it through a receiver?
i'm sure you have the option of a booth on your mixer, why not split the line out to receiver and booth to your computer? |

Exactly...
Also, if you have a "Line Out" on your receiver, it's probably for a tape loop. Perhaps the video-in is not on the same receiver bus as the tape record-out.
One other problem I've run into is that my reciever inserts a small amount of delay when any DSP processing is turned on (not fancy soundfields, just regular stereo). The delay makes it VERY odd to mix.
I have the main output of my mixer going to my receiver, and the booth output connected to my monitors (at ear level by the DJ setup). Then I have the record out connected to the computer.

plug for when it goes into your computer? you need a spliter connector that has the same jack at one end as the input in the computer (usually a 1/8") and the other side two RCA plugs. then use the mixer, as the receiver most likely will amplify the sound and delay it.
i would use the Aux input on my receiver for the mixer input on the receiver. |

my mixer has two line outs
one rca
one chunky one like the headphone plug
i have one cord with 1/8 and rca pluged into my computer and rca slot on my mixer
now i need an rca (to reciever) with (chunky to Mixer) cord to plug so i can hear my monitor speakers
Right?
thanks btw!!!! |

The chunky one is a 1/4" phono jack. If that's coming out of your mixer (which mixer?) it's likely a "balanced" output, so you shouldn't use that one. Stick to the RCA cables.

not to be a pain in the ass, but chuny output? c'mon dude you're mixing and using audio equipment please use some terminology on cables. also as a wannabe dj you should know the difference b/w rca, quarter inch, xlr. ( i didn't, but then i asked whoever i could find until my questions were answered)...please don't use chukny plug b/c it can be xlr or quarter inch
