This thread is about the traditional people who make the Christmas presents in the different countries around the world.

Here in Spain, we have as far as I know four traditions;

1.- This is imported: Santa Claus.

2.- Kings of Orient: The traditional one of Spain although they make the presents the night of the 5th of January.

3.- Tio: This is traditional of Catalonia. It is a trunk covered with a blanket. The children must strike it with a cane in order to obtain presents.

4.- Olentzero: This is traditional of the Basque Country. He is a coal miner that comes from the mountains and make presents to the children.

Any different tradition? I suppose so. Let us know, please.

Santa Claus imo was invented by corporations to get us to overspend and buy stuff for other ppl.....but seriously in canada and in the christian circles....we do give gifts but we celebrate the birth of our saviour jesus christ. Also in my culture, it is a time to reflect on things with family.
