same at my company...IMs don't work...finally found www.msn2go.com for MSN...they even blocked the public proxy servers...but found that they missed www.surfshield.net

don't think they check the logs though...i've had their firewall block me a number of times for various violations, so far they haven't said anything... *crosses fingers*

Lock down our machines, no administrator access, block various websites.

Well, not only did I manage to get around their admin lock down and install some picture editing software, I have also managed to get past their 'oh so clever' attempt to block IMs.

All the main web based IM interfaces are blocked, kudos to them, but it only took me 3 minutes googling to find www.meebo.com and I was logged into my msn messenger account at work :D

Now all I need to do is check with my mate in IT to see how/if it can be traced and if they monitor these sorts of things closely (seeing as they think they have blocked everything, maybe they dont pay much attention)

mwahahahah

yes, I am bored

congrats sounds like your well on your way to getting fired

Nothing really, just kept trying various apps until I found one that could be installed with the need to access the C:\ drive or make any sort of registry entries, as I don't have a physical drive, only a network image.

installed it to the My Documents folder and it works fine :D

They wouldn't be blocking these things if they didn't mind you doing them. Your computer records all that you do, so it wouldn't take much to discover what you've been up to. I don't know what your company is like but if you value your job I'd think twice about being clever.

calm down there boy, it's all good, got my pda working with msn now, so I can just use that, and as for the freeware photo stuff, well, lets say I saved my manager's manager's ass with it, coz they almost missed a deadline and I managed to make the necessary changes ;)

My IT dept. put a block on AIM, Yahoo, & MSN...

I guess getting paid $60 an hour has paid off.

I used to work for a internet company that pretty much did the same thing. people thought they were really smart....but they didn't know that we had hidden VNC servers installed as well. Fired a few people for looking at thing around, or for violating company code. careful dude! :D

oh and fight the power.
