so i finally decided to take some korean courses ....in plus that law school so imma be even more busy that i am right now

actually yesterday afternoon i was at law school and i was waiting for giving papers to some women and there was this asian girl behind me i heard her talking about the fact she was taking some korean courses so i asked her and she told me she was adopted from south korea ...so i was like hey me too so i asked her where was she born and she said seoul and i was like me too ! and haha our parents used the same organization to adopt us !

so she told me about the courses we have a korean teacher and the class is made of people who wanted to take japanese or chinese but the classes were full already and some adopted korean like me ....
because where i live there is almost no real korean we have some vietnamese or chinese but that is .....

im exicted to begin the classes !sorry if i bored u i just wanted to share that with the c0re haha ;)

it is extremely difficult to learn languages of the orient, but i'm sure you'll do fine. you really need to apply yourself though...i mean if you want to really grasp the whole concept of the language, as opposed to just learning conversational korean.

good luck though!!! learning a new language is awesome, i think that's very cool that you're doing that. you'll be fine. i definitely would like to learn another language in my lifetime. i would like to learn italian i think, or russian...not sure.

actually asian languages are supposed to be easier to learn than the romantic languages. sure they are different, but once you get used to that...everything is almost always written and pronounced the way it sounds...so that's definitely a plus hehe.

i'd like to get better at my japanese someday...i think really i know enough of it that i just need to keep using it in practice and can self teach from there...but of course i have no one to speak with haha...

and marie...i think it's awesome that you're gonna take korean. i wish i could learn languages as easy as you haha. i always wanted to be one of those people like Lira (bastard :p) that knows lots of languages hehe...

:conf:

it's all symbol based and each symbol represents a sound...trust me, it's not easier.

Can't be as hard as english.

EDIT: btw, good luck with taking Korean.
I have to agree with Jason here, asian languages are usually easier. When I was a teen I was learning Japanese on websites because of all the anime I watched lmao. :p

of course english is the hardest language, but for someone whose native language was english/american...it's really difficult to grasp japanese or korean...especially as an adult.

but it's just the same as letters...it's just foreign to us so at first it seems wierd. what are letters? symbols that represent sounds. japanese is so simple...once you understand the basic gramatical structure most of what you learn is vocab...but trust me...learning asian languages is easier for us than foreigners trying to learn english for example...the only reason they can so well is that they put the time in and want to learn english.

i don't know...i guess i wouldn't know. i took a japanese class when i was in japan and i was very confused. i just stuck to the conversational phrases...i picked up the accent perfectly though. i definitely have a knack for languages/accents. i should really try to learn a language soon...i've always wanted to.

hey that can be a good idea for my cheap date thread! :stongue:

people that study languages will tell you that english is one of the harder languages to learn. when you think about all of the nuances to the language it is very complicated...
