Guvernment plans to party

Ambience: with eight rooms (each basically its own distinct venue), appearance by some of the world’s top DJ’s and consistent capacity crowds, the government has long since established itself as a Toronto’s foremost dance-club complex. With ninth-anniversary celebrations planned for thi weekend, owner Charles Khabouth has plenty of reason to raise a glass and toast his own success. Guests should always arrive early for major events or settle for access to one of the smaller lounges when things get crazy in the main room.

Crowd: With varied nights come varied crowds, but the core clientele has always been hardcore house and trance fans who tend to play much harder than they work.

Dress code: “Fashionably Cool” is requested b y management – that’s a nice way of saying “We’ll turn you away at the door if we don’t think your appeal is up to snuff.” Not to worry. Dip into your closet and try for ultra-trendy if you can pull it off, other wise aim for more traditional club wear.

Should I dance on the bar? You might get up there, but you probably won’t stay there for very long

Best accessory: Lots and lots of glow sticks(sure it’s a stereotype, but its does play out the time to time).

Will I get lucky? There’s a chance , but remember that on nights when renowned DJ’s are playing, this crowd tends to be in its own world. Save your lines for the more intimate rooms.

Cocktail du jour: Shooters, mixed drinks and any beverage with (legal) stimulations are preferred and consumed ad nauseam.

Hours: Thursday, Friday Saturday, 10pm – 2 am open other nights fofr special evetns.

You mean the club doesn't close at 2?
I always leave at 145 to beat the traffic!
