Finally Got The Internet

Yep. It's so not worth making a thread over, but this place is slow as at the moment, so I thought I'd bore you with some meaningless events in my life. :p
By the way, NTL are e. They sent round some scally guy to install our internet on Tuesday, and he installed everything, only to go crawling through the sewers to try and link our house to the main line and find that we didn't in fact have anything to link to. So he told us it'd be sorted by Thursday. Of course, it wasn't. So we rang and complained and they told us they'd sort it by saturday afternoon, but changed their minds a couple of days later. My housemate being my housemate, wasn't having any of it, and after a 10 minute grilling down the phone, they told us it'd still be done on saturday, and here it is.
The moral of the story is, never fall asleep in the snow.
EDIT: Also, I'm hungover from last night's cheesfest in the union. Hehe, I was so drunk, I took a photo with the camera the wrong way round, so the flash went off right in my face. :haha: |

| ntl customer services is e. but if it doesnt break, they're prob one of the best out there. ive had ntl internet since it came out and i can list the problems on one hand. but if i ever have to ring them up, waste of time. |

customer service is both good and bad by my experience.
ringing to try and sort a fault is a waste of time. but when i needed to know my account pass to upgrade my modem i went through to tech support and they had my details within 30 secs :)
....just dont go asking too much of them. |

So how on God's green earth do I access my webspace via FTP? The NTLWorld website is probably the worst I've ever tried to use. It's useless. I basically just need the FTP URL, and obviously I know my username and passwords etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Barely a day goes past when I don't receive something in the post from NTL. Which would be fine, only my house doesn't exist according to their on-line availability checker and you can't get NTL in this area anyway. Groovy.

they most likely have it disabled anyway.
webspaces like 50megs dont allow ftp clients. |

Tis all good now though, I've finally found out how to work the biznitch. And luckily I can use FTP with a 55Mb account.

| God forbid if you have to speak to someone in the Indian customer service desk, I lose my patience quite quickly and DO NOT call me a racist, because I'm not....Im annoyed enough as it is when I have problems with NTL and I spend half an hour with them confirming my address. |

| We have just had an arse on with getting NTL installed as well. Said they were coming on the Friday morning, two wannabies turned up at 4.50pm with only the phone kit. Told them to piss off so they said they would be back tuesday afternoon. No one turned up. Rang the customer help line and they said that it would get fitted the next wednesday morning, This time a bloke turned up and fitted the tv and internet no problem, tho still no work phone line! Also had teething problems setting up the internet on the comp and ended up ringing the tech support. Jesus christ what a waste of time, his end piece of advice was to take it to the local coputer shop as he could fix the problem! Got it sorted in the end. |

basically theyre spastic and the upload address is different to the URL of your space and they fail to mention anyof this on any of their online guides.
anyway upload.ntlworld.com is what you want i think, i cant remember as all my old ftp stuf got wiped from my comp a while ago.
and the URL is homepage.ntlworld.com/yourusername (i think) |
